In my honest opinion the only tie you deserved to go through was against Sporting. Sensational away performance that night, much like our Anfield on our way to Seville (although it must be said we had a far superior side in the final to what your mob will put out, and I think that Liverpool team were far superior to the Sporting side you knocked out but I hope you can see the point I'm making). I think every other tie you have had a huge slice of luck to make it through, Panathinaikos late goal after Panathinaikos missed a sitter. Bremen keeper sells the 2 goals. Last night penalties. Now come on I'm being realistic, you must be letting the euphoria of last night cloud your judgement if you cant see you've carried more than your fair slice of luck to reach the final. We made it to the UEFA final by playing FOOTBALL, not by parking the team bus on the goal line.

Heres hoping your luck runs out soon, starting this sunday.

3 of the defeats were in the Champions league.... so discounting them, we have gone through 4 rounds of UEFA cup football, losing only one of the 4 ties away.

You seriously have a problem accepting the position that Rangers are in now, luck, luck, luck....... all we hear you banging on about. When Celtic reached the UEFA cup final, Liverpool were the best team you played, granted, but they were no better than Bremen or Fiorentina are now.... (if thats the comparison games you want to play).

Now you are suggesting that we have been lucky in the league campaign (hence the statement, luck running out starting sunday).

This will be my last reply on this thread to you, as quite honestly you are painting yourself as an obsessed, bitter individual who annot accept the reality of Rangers achievemnts this season, only hoose to acet the style in which they have been achieved.

Quite honetly pal, you can take your beautiful football and shove it up your arse, as its got you nowhere ultimately (trophyless and still come up short goal wise), whereas our more conservative approach has got us this far, and have scored only a few goals lesser than Celtic.

One thing and one thing only matters, RESULTS. Who has achieved them this season?

and as for you GREAT UEFA cup run..... ultimately what did it achieve??? A trip to Spain, thats it..... If we win, then Im sure we will be painted as the worst UEFA cup winners EVER etc.. etc.. etc... but have your fun....

Get in.

Rangers were excellent last night., True character, grit and determination got them through.

Walter Smith, you are a legend.

I cannot wait to go to manchester, how good!?

Bell - get over it mate. we are in the final by producing some fine displays of defensive football. Sorry your manager doesn't have the same tactical awareness as Walter Smith. If you could, you would have played the same style of football as we have done - as it clearly gets results!!!!

Only watched last part of the game last night (last 5 mins normal time + ET + pens). Thought Vieri was the biggest pile of shite I have seen in a long time, hard to imagine he was once a top striker in Europe.

Well done Rangers though Might not be pretty to watch but theres a serious amount of commitment to the cause. Massive difference between Smiths troops than that of Le Guen.

Glad to see Cousin will pay for his idiot moment in the toughest way and miss what probably would have been the biggest game of his life. What he was thinking is beyond me. Russian striker for Zenit who scored 2 last night is also banned!

Good luck in the final...the scots invade England, who'd have thought it eh

I just don't get your point Bell. In 2003 you had a good side under a good manager (albeit a bunch of bruisers and a nippy dude up front). But what have you done since?

You still have a terrible record away from home in the Champions League (D1 L4 this season?). You have had 1 run in Europe that equals Rangers recent efforts, indeed we qualified out of the group stages of the Champions League before Celtic too.

How about trying to give advice on how to play 'beautiful' football in Europe once you lot learn how to do it as well. Maybe we dont play lovely attacking football in Europe but we have got the results. I'm fairly sure that in the same group as you had this season we would not have lost all 3 games like you lot did.

Steve.

The point I was trying to make was the difference in quality in the 2 sides that made it to the UEFA final, but it appears thats all lost on you guys still coming down from the euphoria of Thursday night (or coming out of your sleep enduced coma after being bored to tears, not sure which). To class this side alongside the Seville team is a farce imo, we both know both sides of the old firm had a far superior team in every way 5 years ago compared with what both sides put out now. I mean c'mon 5 goals in 8 games, v few teams make it to a final of any competition never mind a European one with that kind of record but unbelieveably its happenned.

Smith has only transferred what he did with Scotland and produced results with a side which can only really be classed as average and for that he must be congratulated. Look it appears there is no way you guys will see the point I'm trying to make or accept you have cave carried more than your fair slice of luck to make it to this stage so I wont bother anymore. I've always said Rangers are organised, defend well and are hard to beat.

Hope you get humped on Sunday

The comparison I was making was going to a hostile away ground with everyone writing you off and producing an outstanding performance to deservedly go through. Anfield was the dinfing moment in our UEFA run and I imagine the same would be said of your night in Lisbon. I wasnt comparing the calibre of side, imo that Liverpool team were better than the likes of Lisbon etc but I would also say the team from that year was far superior to the one which has now (sadly) matched their achievement.

That was a superb side. Remind me again, how many trophies did you win that season??

Oh yea, thats right. None. Not really a great side was it

First thing i thought of when Rangers got through was an old mate of mine who died a few years ago from cancer.
Rangers daft he was, very rarley missed a game, travelled all over europe watching them when he could afford it. I used to go to a few Rangers games with him in the 70's & 80's when my team werent playing, and he would do the same and come and watch Falkirk with me. A top bloke, a sadly missed by a lot of people. How he would have laughed at some of the comments put up on this thread ( from both sides ).
As he once said to me.....its only a game, great game as it is, still only a game. So Peter my old friend lets hope that they can do it for you. Heres to you mate...

Just had a read through this and all I can do is ...

At the end of the day it is only a game and yes we do all forget that. I must say, I think Rangers fans are worse when it comes to all the bigotry etc but that is only my opinion.

I have said for the past few weeks that Rangers' will run out of this winning touch and although Celtic have got lucky on a few occasions this season, it does all even out and I believe Celtic will still pinch the league. It could honestly go either way though and I think it is worth saying, neither of them are bombproof.

However I do agree, the above post from Robbie is class, very touching that is.

Right guys, honest opinions now. Do you think you'll seriously be able to hold on and win your remaining 5 games in light of the yet another extension request being rightly denied by the spl? 4 really tough games against sides who all have something still to play for plus a game against st mirren where you'll only have less than 48 hours to recover. Considering you've dropped points in 50% of your away matches this season (Record stands at 8 wins 4 draws 4 losses) the stats say you'll have at least 1 more game where you will drop points before the season is through. I said this for a while that last weekend was going to be the defining weekend of the season, if you won on Sunday I would have all but given up the league but now I think we'll do it. Our games are no "gimmes". 2 extrememly tough matches against opposition who both have something still to play for but I think if we win them both we'll be champions.

KEEP THE FAITH!!!

Very interesting from a betting point of view.

Rangers top price 10/11; Celtic evens.

I'd have to say I'd back Celtic due to the amount of games Rangers have to play.

Celtic play Hibs this weekend at Parkhead and that will be a tough game. They only just scraped past Aberdeen a few weeks ago at home.

Rangers have two tough home games in Motherwell and United but their away trip to Aberdeen on the final day could be the key. Celtic also have a toughy going away to Tannadice.

I can see it going down to the wire but I feel Rangers could slip up in their next few games and therefore it will be in Celtics hands... for just about the first time this season!

First time ive read this forum and found it brilliant , really funny Me myself am a Celtic fan and IMO we will walk away with the league this year , Rangers showed against Hibs on Sunday that they are starting to feel the strain of playing all of these games in very quick succesion , and sorry to say but this fixture congestion is getting far worse because the SPL are refusing Rangers bid to extend it Im hoping Rangers hand us the league tomorow night when they play Motherwell CMON THEEEE WELLL true celtic dont have easy games to play in there last two but we have the superior players and this should show through in the last two games , who cares if they have 3rd place to play for , we have the league to play for and i think Celtic will do it

Also Rangers UEFA cup run has been great......... if u hate football
Now cumon if you want to teach your kids how football should be played dont take them to a rangers game , the negativity is ******* terrible , the gameplan is 10 behind the ball , 1 up top , its ******* pathetic , true rangers could win 4 trophies this year but could also kill thousands due to boredom have a bit of ******* attacking ambition ffs

CELTIC FOR THE LEAGUE , ZENIT FOR THE UEFA , QOTS FOR THE SCOTTISH CUP

Remember when Celtic only had to beat Motherwell on the last day of the season a few years ago to clinch the title.... and we all know what happened.

Believe me mate, Dundee Utd are no mugs. It will be a tough tough game for Celtic but considering the Gers go to Pittodrie on the final day, neither have easy games.
