Sack him. Sack him NOW.

No idea.

No passion.

No Gerrard.

Today he is STILL talking about a good 45 mins against Brazil.

well played N.Ireland

regardless of the final score.

Its a fcuking disgrace. Eriksson has had 4 years to get a team together and get them playing the way he wants them to - and they still look like they first met eachother 5 minutes ago. very very poor. What exactly has he spent the last 4 years doing??

SACK THE SWEDE!

Well 2 hours ago, we needed 6 points from games vs N. Ireland and Austria, with arguably the best squad of players we've had in ages. You wouldnt think that would be too much of a problem would you?

it really annoys me to see the potential of this squad and no one making the most of it.

I hope the England fans over there can accept this gracefully.

N.Ireland played as well as they could(?).

Focus the anger on the cnuts responsible.

Just to clarify, we have 2 games left vs Austria and Poland - both at home. 2 wins will see us top the group and qualify. We will need to perform ALOT better. Can Sven turn it round? There seems to be so little faith in the guy.

He HAD faith. Lost it.

He HAD our trust. Abused it.

He HAD his chance. FCUK OFF SVEN.

Formation?? Whats that? Be nice if theyd played any kind of formation.

May not be playoffs, depending on what teams in other groups do. Top two runners up go through automatically.

Surely the groups with 7 teams in have an advantage here as they play more games, therefore a greater chance of accumulating most points.

2 highlights of the night for me.
1) Rooney telling Beckham to fcuk off. Long overdue, and the more observant amongst us (definitely not the BBC pundits) will have noticed that the goal was entirely Beckham's fault.
2) Seeing Sven's hands shaking like judy finnegans 2 minutes after the goal was scored. Ice-cool my arse, the fella knows he's under pressure and his stock is falling by the game.

That's a good point WFTE. Makes me think it can't be as simple as just accumulation of points. Must be total points / games played to decide. Or something like that anyway. I'm off to try and find out ...

Found it on the official FIFA website here :-

http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/releas..._format_en.pdf

For groups with 7 teams in them ONLY the 2nd placed teams results against the teams finishing 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th count. So the results against the team finishing bottom are discarded to make the comparison with the 6 team groups fair.

Strange I've not seen this mentioned anywhere in the media though.

iwhen comparing the teams points in different groups:
in the groups of 7 all results count bar the ones versus the last team in the table.

Looking at the prices before the match I wish I had 20/20 foresight (I honestly couldn't give a fook how I make money these days). Look at Paddy Power's prices for the match:

N.Ireland v England ~ 22/1 (home win), 11/2 (draw), 1/8 (away win).

I wonder how many patriotic Northern Irish punters put their money on a Northern Ireland win.

This was a really sad night for English football, almost as bad as the draw we had with Liechenstein a few years back. Certainly Sven deserves all the critism thrown at him because at the moment I cant believe he is tinkering with formations with the team he has. The talent england has simply Cannot play with one man up front or players playing outta position. You cannot simply ask a player to play out of position for games like this. If a position is short a player, then drop a big name and replace him with somebody who is used to playing in that position.Dont just move your big name into that position to suit. Beckham is NOT a Defensive midfielder. WTF was OWENS position?? and why the fcuk is Hargreaves still getting games?? And seriously is Rooney a Striker or a Midfielder???? Sven has the tactical awareness of a frog in the Everglades.
For this one incident, I dont think any blame can be attributed to the players as most were playing out of their natural playing positions.

4-4-2 is what england has been about for years. Get back to it immediately or risk to play off lottery.
