Default Wembley Stadium

Looks like the FA have lost confidence in having Wembley for this years cup final.......

Hmmm, I heard on 5live 3rd or 4th hand testimony which said,'My mate asked a construction worker at the site if it'd be ready for next years cup final and was told "I've done loads of these projects, and there is no chance"'

The FA's position at that time was basically all is OK, so it looks like 2007 FA cup final will be the first.

BTW I don't like that arch-looks like a fairground ride from a distance, I don't think the new Wembley will have the same 'shiver' factor as the old one. I'll never forget going to Wembley the first time, and the goosebumps walking up Wembley Way and seeing the towers 'brrgh' fantastic

I think it will be ready and it will be the best stadium in the world. I can't wait to go. The 2005 FA cup final tickets will be going for a horrendous amount on Ebay.

I dunno, yes there was a lot of history and tradition with the old Wembley, and it was a "mecca", but it had had it's day - and this new one seems to me VERY impressive - I reckon it can become a "mecca" in its own right.....I always found the old Wembley a dissapointment - it was more of a multisport (greyhounds, speedway, athletics etc) stadium than a traditional football stadium - and that showed with the distance you were from the pitch. I always seemed to end up in the restricted view seets as well (they really were restricted - I once could see less than half the pitch.....)

The image that really sold it to me though was this one comparing the new stadium with the old one (as well as the comparison in size with the Stade de France - Wembley will seat 90,000 in 173,000 sq m or 1.92 sq m per seat compared to the Stade de France which seats 80,000 in 70,000 sq m or 0.88 sq m per seat)

I doubt they will be going for lots on ebay as it is illegal to sell on football tickets to random punters and ebay are very good at picking these things up.

As my mate works for the ESFA I will be gaurenteed tickets so I know ill be going to the first game there whatever it is.

Fcukin hell is that image true GotaFancy?

Looks awesome

Whether its ready for the 2006 or 2007 FA Cup Final is irrevelant to me, this stadium was built for England games

Imagine near on 90,000 England fans for a world cup game, the atmosphere...it's going to be the best stadium in the world bar none.

Were gonna rule the world of football

Yup - from the wembley stadium website.......does look impressive doesn't it.....

We'll have the best stadium in the world ..... just be nice to have a team to match it......

I've never found the atmosphere that great at England games - for me, having it divided between fans 50/50 is when you'll get the atmosphere.......

OK, I don't want to argue, cos that does look smart, and when it's lit up..........but I'm yet to be convinced. Going past on the A40 it does remind me of a rollercoaster, and when you're close up seeing it held by all those strong wires, but it (was) still in the middle of a bloody great building site last time I was there, so. Who knows. I hope I'm wrong (and those of you who've seen my pathetic attempts at tipping will know that I am):o.
