Phil Jagielka. Ok, he grabbed a few headlines but one of the best central defenders/ players in sheff utd's history. Played in a total of 5 positions from RB to CM, 6 including his numerous goalkeeping heroics over the time and played in them all brilliantly without a moan. No surprise to see him now in a side challenging for a champions league place and must be close to an england call up.

Not quite so true of late, he's been getting the recognition he deserves.
Jamie Carragher. Put him in goal and he'll still die for the cause.

We all dream of a team of Carraghers

An older one would be Joey Beauchamp of Oxford.

Probably THE best English midfielder of his generation and you never hear a peep out of him rain or shine.

It will be a sad, sad day when he retires.

With a whole career with no bookings or trouble off the pitch it has to be Gary Lineker

Yeah but he's smug ain't he?

Wouldn't head the ball either. Bit of a prick really.

I was gonna say Julien Dicks but he would only get in the passion category.

Got to say Lucas Radebe, brought up in Soweto, South Africa in very violent times, was shot before moving to Leeds, has never had a bad word to say about other people and has done loads of charity work that many people never heard about due to his unassuming nature.

For the might Valiants.

Dean Glover. Bought for 200k from Middlesbro (I think) he played for us until he retired, then eventually joined the back room staff. As cultured a defender as you would see in the third tier of football. A 'famous' Seth Bottomley description of him was..." so laid back that he often took a book with him onto the pitch, for when he got bored". He wasn't the quickest, best header or most violent, but his positional sense and ball playing ability was superb.

Neil Aspin. Did everything that Glover couldn't. Ate Steve Bull for breakfast. My hero.

Roy Sproson. Played for one club, 754 (I think) times. A part of the famous Port Vale "Steele Curtain" defence that set a record for least goals conceded in Div 3 North and part of the team robbed of being the first 3rd Div club to play in the FA Cup Final, when they lost to a dubious penalty in the semi final.
