Default Souness...

Bolton are currently beating Newcastle 1-0. Who would of thought that to be possible 3 or 4 years ago. IMO this highlights 2 different teams going in 2 VERY different directions. Surely this has to be the final straw for Souness.

Call me synical, but the move for Owen seems to be Souness well and truly clutching at straws. Owen is not what NUFC need, they need a manager who knows what they are doing. Souness is a joke, a complete waste of time.

This is coming from a season-ticket holder at St James Park, I am well and truly looking forward to Sunday when NUFC get tanked by Man Utd, the supporters will make Souness squeam at FT.

Thoughts.....

I'd never boo my own team or even direct it at a crud Mgr/player, but you will never have a happy dressing-room with Bellamy and Robert. Unfortunately players of that calibre are hard to replace.

Ordinarily Owen signing would have you drooling, but even if he does and then Souness goes Owen has never scored 20 league goals in a season.

Shouldn't some of your anger be directed towards Freddy Shepherd?

Why?

Souness has consistently proved that he cannot manage a top class Premiership team.

To an extent you are right, but if I knew that a player did REALLY not want to play for my team then it is a different case.

He has now said that he wants to stay at Real, if that isn't possible then he wants Liverpool, thirdly he says he will settle for a year long loan at NUFC until his move to Liverpool is finalised. That is not what a club needs.

You may never Boo a manager or player, but I am afraid that you are in a minority nowadays. Did you hear St James Park after the West Ham game.

2-0 Bolton now.

Souness, must be under pressure now and will step down soon if results don't pick up. He had a great start but the honeymoon period is now over and I think Shep and Sou are about to get divorced!

Sorry, didn't read the criticism(?) of Owen properly.:o

I think the decline started whilst Bobby Robson was in charge, with some questionable signings. In fact I think Shepherds' judgement in appointing managers has been poor (Kenny Dalglish?).

Then when you add poor management to poor signings (there have been some good ones too, mind) or sometimes good signings underperforming it doen't look too clever.

I do think souness is the card that brings the house down though. Thing is I do think the job is too big for Shearer, and I'm not sure Shepherd will have the ambition(?) to go for a 'big gun' who'd inspire (can I mention Martin O'Neill?) and make the underperformers perform and make signings want to go there.

I think Shepherd has to take the blame. It was obvious that a manager like Souness was the last thing Newcastle needed, there's no way he could ever unite a fractious dressing room.
Odd yhing is we all knew it, the Newcastle fans knew it, every single Blackburn fan knew it, in fact every supporter of every club Souness has ever 'managed' knew it. So why couldn't the Newcastle board see it?

IMO Souness is a shit manager and the fans have every right to boo him. he just simply hasn't provided the goods with the resources he has been given.

to be honest I think he will be the first manager to go this season.

fcuck knows who'll replace him. maybe Newcastle could do with a bit of 'sexy football' again

I say Ruud Gullit to return to the Necastle hotseat

I think Man Utd will easily beat Newcastle (with or without Owen).

Souness was a great player, but a f*cking useless manager. It took Liverpool years to recover from what he created there.

Remember that guy he signed that Souness reckoned would be a major player? Torben Pichnik or something????!!!!
