Default And so it begins

Glazer’s promises broken already, but hey, at least Fergie’s pals won’t suffer.

looks like it's started already - but then again he has the hedge loans
to repay shortly.
then again maybe the BIG SIGNING is on his way !!!!!!

taken from the Mirror:

Malcolm Glazer's new regime ordered the job cuts after examining the club's financial position. Department heads were summoned by club secretary Ken Merrett to an emergency meeting at United's Carrington training ground to hear the news.

Merrett read a statement from chief executive David Gill.

An insider said: "He told them five per cent of the staff would have to go by the end of September. And he warned them another five per cent would have to go if there was not a significant improvement in the figures.

"There was absolute disbelief in the room. It was a complete bolt from the blue. Some of those affected have been with the club for a long time.

"This is one of the richest football clubs in the world and yet it is making people redundant.

"People are in a state of shock. And many fear it is just the beginning of major cutbacks."

Already yesterday Reds were reporting it being impossible to get through to ticket office staff by phone. Meanwhile, 25 staff x average £30k = £750k per annum. Reported extra amount Rio Ferdinand was holding out for despite wages of £100k per week: £20k p/w

I guess it was always going to happen. Needs to pay back the loans somehow.

GLAZERS ARE GOOD

So say Marketing Manchester

Two months into their reign, Paul Simpson – who is in Tampa to market Manchester – is convinced that everything will be ok. "The horror stories we have heard about the Glazers certainly haven't come to fruition.”

Cheers Paul, we all feel a lot better now. Well, maybe not the 25 sacked the other day, but the rest of us feel great. And they can always go to work for Chelsea.

It will never happen IMO. Man UTD are just too big. There will always be someone there willing to bail them out.

ralphie, you know I've asked and read the arguments re MU and FCUM, and Glazer, and one thing I forgot to mention is that history is on your side (kind of).

A lot of the cities that have more than 1 team do so because of a split, or different beliefs'.

One of the most famous being Liverpool and Everton (sorry).

Thing is I think the Man Utd you cherish is lost (sadly) forever. It is dificult to see someone coming in with an idealistic approach, like Whelan at Wigan on a much bigger scale.
If they do, might they rather invest in FCUM as the 'new' rather than giving Glazier cash to 'k off.

I hope the day will come when all FC's are owned by fans.

just read the following article mate
this should make all true football supporters
quake in their boots.
it could spread through football.
this might have happened in Austria but
it could easily be England........

A HORRENDOUS STORY FROM AUSTRIA

Story by editor

6 September 2005

Red Bull tastes bad enough without publicity like this

ffice:office" />

http://www.ultras.at/tradition/index-en.shtml

‘A billionaire and his business company (Red Bull energy drink) take over football club Austria Salzburg for a ridiculous price. At first glance it looked like a win-win situation: Red Bull investments would lead to success on the pitch and Red Bull could gain access to a new clientele.

‘Sooner or later it became obvious, that the new owner planned to totally annihilate SV Austria Salzburg and supporters clearly voiced that there are certain limits. Talks with club representatives and interviews gave the impression that "tradition is of importance" to the new owner and that "Austria Salzburg remains Austria Salzburg". Behind the scenes, the annihilation of Salzburg’s traditional football club was in progress according to the slogan "the brand is everything, only Red Bull counts." The 1994 UEFA-Cup finalist and now struggling SV Austria Salzburg lost his traditional colours (violet and white) and furthermore a new club crest, including the Red Bull bulls, was introduced.

‘Since the takeover the club is officially established in 2005! A slap in the face to all supporters, fans and ultras who supported their 1933 founded team in the nerve-racking relegation battles over the last years.

‘Business and commerce is a big problem in Austrian football. We think that business is not only threatening Austrian football but football on the whole. Our case seems to be the beginning of a new era in modern football. Today it's tiny Austria where "Red Bull vs. Magna" is the weekend’s top game. But sooner or later, it could be that T-Mobile play Vodafone in the UEFA-Champions-League final.

Therefore: Wake up before it's too late! Help us to fight modern football on September the 17th and 18th. Stand up for football the way we love it. "Kick out business! Stop Red Bull and modern football!"

‘We hope to stopRed Bull with your support. A successful campaign could definitely show the way for others! In case you are willing to show your support with banners etc, we hope to hear from you via e-mail:

tradition@tgs92.com or tradition@ultras.at

The supporters of SV Austria Salzburg.

For those with any interest in Welsh football, it is not a new thing to have company names instead of place names.

Perhaps Sunday Pub Leagues are the future....

Sorry Ralphie. Missed this thread as have been keeping my head down a bit to avoid anymore ABU confrontations. Got bored with them tbh.

The redundancy thing is just a sign of things to come, I'm sure you saw the ITV documentary on the fat gnome a few weeks ago and his takeover of Tampa, etc. Very very worrying and the redundancies, as we all predicted, is just the start of him repeating the same thing with us.

My season ticket is gone now and yesterday was just horrible not being at OT for the Derby for the first time since I was a small boy. But I simply refuse to give him a penny of my money.

Another 69,000 crowd at OT yesterday Wayne, i do feel for the supporters of Utd and their concerns for the club but surely the only ones being hurt here are people like yourselves who refuse to go

It's not impossible for Utd to win the Prem or the CL this season, you could miss out.

Yeh, take your point 100% punter but those of us who have decided to oppose Glazer actively never thought for a minute that our seats would stay empty. The fan base is just far too large for OT to be empty.

I don't have a problem with those that are still going but are opposed to Glazer. I think everyone must do what they feel is right for them but personally I couldn't pay £600 for my season ticket to a man who I despise.

As for winning the PL or Cl this year. Well, I've seen it all before.
