You know Pomp - for people who think no one would be THAT Stupid how about this.

I had a member of staff who said that they had tried to do some work from home (as they were obliged to do per their contract.)

My client said they didn't.

My staff said they did.

My client said they didn't.

I asked when did you phone and from where?

The member of staff said 'the works mobile phone'.

I rang my telecommunications provider - got the itemised bill and hey presto - lying member of staff - no longer in a job.

SOME PEOPLE ARE THAT STUPID.

Default Rio

For what its worth, my twopenneth. Rio missed a drugs test. The punishment for missing a test should be the same as failing a drugs test and he got off llightly. Man Utd and Ferguson have made the situation far worse by their arrogance and attitude that they are above the game itself and I believe that is why the ban was longer that anticipated.

I dont understand why he was not hauled before the FA as soon as he possibly could be after failing to take the test and the fact it has dragged on for 3 months is ridiculous.

I heard on Radio 5 that apparantly his mobile records showed that he had texted his doctor within an hour of the appointed time for the test.

Wonder what his doctor would have to say about a random drug test?

Ferdinand ban may be delayed

Ferdinand devastated by ban
Rio Ferdinand could still be playing for Manchester United after the start date of his eight-month ban.
The England defender is set to start his suspension for missing a drugs test on 12 January.

But United have requested formal clarification and still have the right to appeal against the ban within 14 days of receiving that documentation.

The Christmas and new year break has meant the documents are not likely to be received until next week.

The timing means Ferdinand could still play in any FA Cup replay with Aston Villa and the Premiership game against Wolves at Molineux on 17 January.

The delay means it could now be the end of February or the beginning of March before any appeal is heard, further dragging out a process which took three months just for the initial hearing to be held.

Sorry for dragging up some points from a few pages ago but only just read this thread and wantewd to add my view.

if he wanted to get tough on drugs why didnt he publish something sooner rather than wait to make a scapegoat of someone.
The rules are in place- just because the FA haven't been hard in the past doesn't mean they need to publish something saying they will follow the rules better in the future!

And as for comparing the sentences for missing a drugs test and failing one is ridiculous IMO. The max ban is 2 years- that means if your drugs test suggests you have taken all the worst drugs imaginable you will get banned for 2 years. So if you have done that and then skip the test instead you should get banned for 2 years, end of story. If its possible to get less time for missing a drugs test then why would anybody who has taken drugs take the test?

And I don't think Rio's and Negaoui's (sp?) cases are similar in any way- Rio left WITHOUT permission, Negaoui left WITH permission. Rio DIDNT have a proven reason why he missed it, Negaoui DID
