Default Redskin Taylor Killed

Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor died on Tuesday morning from the gunshot wound he suffered at his home on Monday.
A Pro Bowl safety, the 24-year-old died at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he had been taken after being shot once in the leg.
At Redskins Park, a small bouquet of white flowers had been placed at the main entrance and flags were lowered to half-mast. Fans also huddled near Taylor's parking spot.
"This is the worst imaginable tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sean's family," Redskins owner Daniel Snyder said in a statement.
Doctors had been encouraged on Monday after Taylor squeezed a nurse's hand and made facial expressions after he underwent nearly seven hours of surgery to repair a severed femoral artery.
"Things turned for the worse," family friend Donald Walker told the Post. "There seemed like a lot of hope after he responded to the doctor's command. But he lost a lot of blood."
Taylor never regained consciousness after being transported to the hospital. Doctors had feared brain damage or death due to the significant amount of blood Taylor had lost.
The Miami Dade police said Taylor was shot by an intruder attempting to break into his home in Palmetto Bay, a suburb of Miami.
"According to a preliminary investigation, it appears that the victim was shot inside the home by an intruder," Miami-Dade County police said in a statement.
Police arrived at Taylor's home at approximately 1.45am EST after his girlfriend made an emergency 911 phone call reporting the shooting. Taylor's girlfriend and child were not injured.
The latest attack came just eight days after an intruder had been reported at Taylor's home. In that incident, someone pried open a window, rifled through drawers and left a knife on Taylor's bed, according to police.
Taylor's death came nearly a year after Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams was killed in a drive-by shooting following an argument at a Denver nightclub in the early morning on January 1.
Last November, University of Miami defensive lineman Bryan Pata was shot and killed.
An All-American at Miami, Taylor had several run-ins with the law over the last four years and was fined seven times during his professional career for late hits and other on-field infractions.
But Redskins running back Clinton Portis, who played with Taylor at Miami, said his collegiate and pro team-mate changed his life following the birth of his daughter last year.
"Ever since Sean had his little girl, it was like a new Sean," Portis said on Monday. "He was always smiling, always happy, always talking about his child. It was good to see Sean walk by smiling."
North Carolina coach Butch Davis, who recruited Taylor to Miami, also expressed his condolences.
"He energised his team-mates with his love of football, his charismatic personality and his willingness to compete at the highest level," Davis said.
"It's a real tragedy to see his life end so suddenly and for no reason. I know he recently had a daughter who meant the world to him and my heart goes out to her and the rest of the Taylor family."
Taylor had missed the Redskins' last two games while nursing a sprained right knee. The former first-round draft pick recorded 42 tackles and a team-leading five interceptions in nine games this season.
Considered one of the NFL's hardest hitters and a phenomenal athlete, Taylor had 299 tackles and 12 interceptions in parts of four seasons with the Redskins.

RIP
