Watford 2-2 Reading

Referee Stuart Attwell sent Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd to the stands

Watford were denied a win by a late penalty - and a farcical decision to allow an earlier goal to stand.
Linesman Nigel Bannister flagged for a Reading goal instead of a corner after John Eustace challenged Noel Hunt and, incredibly, a goal was awarded.
Watford's Tommy Smith fired into the roof of the net and John-Joe O'Toole smashed home to put the Hornets ahead.
But Reading salvaged a point when Stephen Hunt scored from the penalty spot after being fouled by Eustace.
Reading's opener, which has been officially recorded as an own goal by Eustace, will go down as one of the strangest goals ever.
606: DEBATE

No-one in the stadium thought it was a goal except for the linesman!

WM

Stephen Hunt whipped in a corner which was contested by Noel Hunt and Eustace at the near post.
The ball bounced over the line - four yards wide of the goal - before being hooked back into play by Noel Hunt. Reading's Andre Bikey headed back towards goal, where keeper Scott Loach made a save, but the linesman had already flagged - for a goal. And referee Stuart Attwell gave the goal to total bemusement around the stadium.

Utterly incredible, these officials should never be allowed near the game again.

Just seen it - unbelieveable!!!

Both managers were asked if Reading should have let Watford score. Interestingly both of them said no.

Shocking decision. And the ass. ref. manager even covers for the ref and the linesman in an answer full of "appears so, doesn't appear so..." (also on youtube)

Next time you see him for a pint, buy him one for me mate .

remember this one also from a few years back - not only a clear goal and the thistle players walking away but the
defender actually hands the ball back to the keeper !! yet play is allowed to continue ! penalty perhaps then ??

a young duncan ferguson in here, also blackburns billy mckinlay and plymouth boss paul sturrock, jim white ( skysports ) commentating. 1 minute 15 secs in :
