Havent updated the friendlies as the results havent been great:

Stevenage (Away) won 3-1
Northampton (Away) won 1-0
Falkirk (Away) lost 0-1
Kilmarnock (Away) lost 0-2
AC Chievo (Home) lost 1-2

Better news from the transfer front with former R - Lee Cook returning after a year at Fulham. he has only returned on a season long loan but his heart is with the R's, so cant wait to see him playing again.

Real Madrid's Daniel Parejo tipped to be a future star has signed on a year long loan. Lets see what he is like before making any comments!

Kaspar Gorkks from Blackpool was a target all summer & finally wrapped up the signing last week with Danny Nardiello going the opposite way.

Simon Walton has gone to Plymouth for £750K (seems a lot, only played 5 games for us after a broken leg in pre season last year).

new players now list as:

Cerny (free)
Di carmine (loan from fiorentina)
Ledesma (Loan from genoa)
Parejo (loan from Real Madrid)
Alberti (free)
Cook (loan from Fulham)
Ramage (free)
Gorkss (£250k)

from the above you wouldnt think we were owned by some of the richest men in the country (& the world!)

We have actually made a profit this season on transfers !

Busacky & Vine will be like new players when they return from injury but i fear that our weakness is in the striker department with only Blackstock & Agyemang as recognised strikers.

you may be owned by rich people but they built their wealth and wont throw it away - some interesting signings there though.

how are you judging the forthcoming season bowles? I still dont think you'll get automatic promotion (too soon and will be seen as a big game now due to finances), but play offs look achievable.

under Dowie i have no pre conceived idea that promotion is a possibility. if he achieves it, hats off to him, but i dont think he will. The division looks even stronger than last year with any 1 from 8 can win it & some of the clubs are splashing the cash also.

Top 8 will do for me, but would love to make the play offs.

Cerny is not a bad goalie and Ramage is decent defender. Haven't heard the other names, but good luck Rob There is still enough time for one or two big names

Here it is , 1st day of the season, missed this game last 3 years due to hols, but going today with a hint of optimism about the season ahead.

After increasing my ticket by 200 smackers, i aint buying no programme today for the 1st time in 33 years its the only way i can get back some of that increase. you read it all on the net anyway, & the bloke next to me buys one

The weather was shite, but starting with a hard earned victory makes the sun shine!

The walk on part by Bowlesy before the game & a compilation of his goals on the new big screen before the game stirred the crowd into a frenzy! Fireworks, 25ft flames, Gulf air stewardesses, cheerleaders all welcomed the 2 teams onto the hallowed Loftus Road turf.

An early header from Leigerwood easily saved before Hume got inbehind the defence to slot home the visitors into an early lead. The defence looked shocked but it was the wake up call they needed with all of them looking nervously at each other & new keeper Cerny unable to catch anything all day.

Settled down before a decent free kick brought Ranger's 1st goal after keeper steele only managed to parry into the melee of players & the 1st attempt came back off the bar, hit steele on the back, rebounded to Hall who from the deck tapped home. A minute later with the crowd still on their feet, a corner is cleared to the RH of the box & volleyed home by Hall for his 2nd goal in a minute.

A 2nd half penalty miss by hall for his hat trick, cant believe he even took it although Dowie insists this was decided before the game!

The 2nd half was a bit of a non event apart from the excellent wing play of young argie Ledesma who looks a decent acquisition. parejo came on & showed some nic touches also, both players will be exciting for us this season.

An assessment of the 1st game, we won, thats about it. The squad is far better than last year.. 4 players to return to the side will make the final difference.

Despite beating Swindon away in the cup midweek, the changes made by Dowie to the side for the Sheff utd game backfired as the team tamely 3-0.

All i would take from it is that is a learning curve for some of the players that this div will be tight all year. We still lack a goalscorer & the club must see that! We had an 18yo playing up front in front of our main striker??

Anyway, we lost there last year so no harm done. Long way to go, we need 72pts odd for the play offs, 69 to go from 44 games, about 1.5pts per game.

You seem pretty nonchalant despite the result, i guess that's because there's no surprise in being smashed by a world class team.

3-0, GG.

just another game to be honest nade, you cant win them all, so defeat will be taken & move on.

hope so, the foreign legion we have is taking shape now.

Just looking forward to Sunday's game although the star of the season so far Ledesma is suspended for 1 game.
