EASY today

3-0 against Stoke, bring them on any day

Unfortunately the debate is about the sending off & not the way we played as usual, but hey it was 2-0 at that point.

On the radio after the game, Jeff Winter came on & backed up the fact that the rule is to send a player off for dangerous lunge, obviously D'Urso felt that was the case. Our player wasnt happy with the challenge either.

makes a change for D'Urso as he normally wrecks our chances in our games.

Rowly was superb & with better distribution we could have had more.

Nice to see Stoke fans bothering to support thier quest for the premiership - NOT!!

Griffin was unlucky in so much as he got the ball, but I thought that the way he leaped into the challenge would have been very dangerous had your player been closer.

Good performance though.

New £20m kit deal signed with Lotto italia yesterday

The club is definitely on the up now but a few of us have been discussing today :

- would you prefer some money into the club, tick along in the Championship with the hope of promotion some day but always with the threat of losing your best players to bigger clubs?

or

- enjoy the big money, get into the Premier league, move to a new ground, lose some identity, gain 10,000 new fans & be on Sky every other week. Buy big name players & challenge the top 6 & maybe get into Europe.

Its a question of identity to me, sadly, i feel that in 5 years time, it wont be the same club i was brought up with i.e small West London club, about 20,000 fans through family generations, small ground but great atmosphere close to the players etc.

In 5 years time there will be a dozen clubs that have folded due to debts that could not be repaid but QPR won't be one of them. It's ok aiming for Premier League status etc but if the money men suddenly pull out and find another club will you be left in the smelly brown stuff? As you say you'll gain more fans but they are only there for the glory and don't have the club at heart. We picked up an extra 5,000 + fans in the PL and then they fcuked off as soon as we got relegated and went into administration.

QPR ould be a good club to buy shares in as they seem to be definitely on the up. Not surprised some money men are looking at buying Sheffield Wednesday too, fantastic support to say there are 2 Sheffield Clubs, Barnsley and Rotherham nearby. I think you'd be better getting established and making a realistic push for promotion over the next 3-5 years and having a chance of not getting relegated straight away.

Perhaps that's one better answered by the Chelsea fans (the old ones not the new ones).

My impression from the Chelsea fans that I know, and they'd deny it is that they're getting bored with it.

they've answered it, i know loads of Chelsea fans but only 3 that actually attend matches on a regular basis. Our visit to them in the cup was an embarrasment to them as most failed to understand the rivalry. i do not agree that thier rivals are now Arsenal, Man U & Liverpool, it will always be QPR, West ham & Millwall amongst other London clubs.

here it is last day of what has been an eventful season

started off with the most tragic death of Ray jone only 18yo & tipped for a bright future. The next day, the chairman announced the takeover by Flavio Briatore & Bernie Ecclestone, were we all dreaming or were we about to become of the richest clubs in Britain. That takeover took until November to complete & out went Gregor, in came non english speaking boss Di Canio. I met him on a november night after the coventry game, he just smiled & laughed as we tried to speak to him in pidgeon italian! In came a stream of players & yes, 11 players went out the door, mostly the dregs of the previous era who simply didnt give much to the club in terms of performances.
Then, the mittal family join the board, the 5th richest man in Britain!!! Happy days!!

What next??

Maybe an announcement today by Briatore. Could it be Zidane as player / coach who knows but there will be plenty going on down the Bush next season.

De Canio parts company with QPR

De Canio took over the club in October 2007

First team coach Luigi De Canio has left Queens Park Rangers with immediate effect by "mutual consent".
The Championship club, who have major financial backing, say they will announce a successor in "due course".
Italian De Canio was appointed in October 2007 and signed a three-year deal at the Loftus Road outfit.
"The club would like to place on record its thanks to Luigi for his contribution to QPR," said a club statement on their website.
"We wish him all the best for a successful future.
"Mr De Canio also wanted to express his gratitude for the opportunity to manage QPR and also for the fantastic experience he had during his time in England.
606: DEBATE
What do you think of De Canio's exit?

"The club will be making no further statement at this stage."
De Canio joined QPR after spells at Udinese, Napoli, Reggina, Genoa and Siena. The club were struggling at the bottom end of the Championship when he took over and he eventually led them to 14th place. He now leaves with the club's wealthy owners of Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone - as well as the son-in-law of Indian steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal - set to fund a spending spree to launch a promotion assault next season.

obviously dont think he can take them any further forward.

he did well at the club taking the club from bottom in Nov to 14th finishing position & at one point 6pts away from play offs.

loads of names in the frame so far - dowie, allardyce, mclaren - dont like any of them to be honest so hopefully its either a foreign coach or someone else (paul ince??))

he was at the weekend but the story wasnt confirmed & most thought it was just rubbish talk again

di canio never took the usual end of season pitch walk after sundays game which i thought strange so todays announcement was no surprise.

Whoever gets it will be under serious pressure won't they? I can't see the F1 duo wanting to hang around the Championship for too long.

agreed, the pressure will be on. the fans seem to expect promotion is around the corner, lets wait and see

they have laready changed the badge, redesigned the kit, & paid off the sponsors. I am expecting a ground share with fulham in next 5 years down at the spare plot in white city round the corner.

is it significant they havent announced season ticket prices yet but have delayed until 12th May, now they sack the manager?? linked?? i think so.

Can't help but think that Dowie was the wrong appointment! Surely the club should have been looking for a successful 'name' manager? Someone to attract bigger players and help push the club in the right direction, not one of the ugliest guys about who has been a mixed bag of success in his management to date?

Really dont get this at all........

Di Canio did a stunning job by the looks of it, took them away from relegation and started to build what looked like the foundations of a decent side.

and then.............Ian Dowie??? Am I missing something?

not liked by the fans also so they obviously dont read message boards

The likes of allardyce, mclaren etc would want £2-3m a year. This guy is no more than a championship appt. I am surprised as it looks as though he was lined up for this in advance. We have at least a few weeks before the appt was crucial. Paladini bought 2 players on Monday that he agreed with Di Canio. Now we have Dowie in charge. Typical bloody mess !

Not many Charlton Fans will agree with me but I liked Dowie. Okay his transfers were shite. Infact he spent £15 million on Faye, Diawarra, Reid, Trajore, Walton and Hasslebaink none of which are still at the club.

having said that I think he is good behind the scenes, however I have always seen him doing well on shoestring budget.

So quite frankley although I like Dowie, I think this is a ridiculous appointment which can only end in trouble.

Thought I'd better update where we currently stand.

Despite the hype around the club being one of the richest in the world with ambitions to play in the Premier League etc, few can understand how we have been unable to secure any of the decent signings so far in the Championship.

Despite rumours of Eastwood, Phllips, Morrision, Gorkks, Halmosi, Cook, Shittu, Zamora, Etherington, Ched Evans & a few more, we havent signed one yet & most have gone or will go elsewhere.

The additions of Cerny & Ramage both prior to Dowie being appointed show that perhaps those deals were done by the end of last season. Both have played in the Premier League & are potentially good additions. We then have 1 Argentinian & 1 Italian, i wont say the names as you wont have heard of them , perhaps they may wear the hoops at some point!

Unless we buy a 20+ goal striker, there is no way we should be fav's for this division & 6/1 is an absolute joke IMO, I cannot see why we are ahead of Birmingham who have secured Kevin Phillips signature amongst a few other additions, Derby who have kept thier team from last year, Reading who will be up there amongst them.

The reality is we should be 16/1 for this title, even Watford are as big as 20's in some places!!

We will see & as Dowie said he wanted his team in place by 1st July, I assume we now have it! He hasnt signed one single player yet!
