Default QPR thread

Well, it looks like it is finally here.

Flavio Briatore was at the game yesterday & was introduced at HT to the crowd. The announcer's comment of "hope to get us back where we belong - the premier league" was met with a few outbreaks of hysterical laughter amongst most R's fans & the travelling southampton contingent.

The day had started with the Ray Jones tribute which was very sad. I walked past the shrine outside the ground with an ever growing number of shirts/flags/photo's being displayed amongst the flower tributes. It hit me then that this was a young man for whom will never be able to fufill his potential. One was from the day's mascot who had written a tribute on his shirt. At that point, it was hard to take the whole thing in. Passing down the road, i was back in the throng of the normal Loftus road saturday, beer, chips etc, people talking about the game, the takeover & of course Ray.

The whole tribute thing inside the ground was accepted by all fans, credit to the Soton fans, they joined in too & this was great to see. The sight of his family on the pitch with young nephews/nieces etc was again difficult to take.

It just seemed very strange that we were saying goodbye to a young footballer on the same day that we were unveiling a saviour to take my beloved club forward to hopefully better things.

The game was dire, after the 1st went in, we gave up, Rasiak should have scored 7 at least & soton 9!! Our keeper kept most of them at bay & also piss poor finishing by Soton. 0-3 was not a fair reflection on the game at all, but we breathed a sigh of relief at the end. Our fans had started to leave 15 mins from the end, i never know why as I can only imagine its to get down the pub quicker as surely they dont need to get home !!

The whole last few weeks have drained the life out of the Rangers fans. it's just a pity that the money came through too late to sign a few more players but we have a wage structure at present & simply most would not sign.

To conclude, QPR are part of my life in a big way & so is the QPR family. Those booing the team off & booing the players during the game achieve nothing other than self gratitude.

Onwards & upwards.

Seems like he's given up on getting Arsenal then - so must be Plan B (or is it Plan C ... D .... )

about time i got my team up there amongst others on here. Its amazing how the stories start rolling once we have some money!!

Stories posted today include the following :

QPR Supposedly Want Italian International Costacurta as Manager
--------------------------------------------------------------
Wenger was the guest of Renault team chief Flavio Briatore at Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
And QPR hope new owner Briatore can persuade his pal to loan them young Gunners stars Fran Merida, Armande Traore and Havard Nordvedt.

--------------------------------------------------------------
QPR have offered Neil Clement the chance of a move to Loftus Road.
The West Brom defender's dad Dave was part of the star-studded Rangers side of 1976 which finished runners-up to Liverpool in the old First Division.
But the former England international committed suicide in 1982 at the age of 34 after poisoning himself with weedkiller. He had been suffering from depression after badly breaking his leg and believing his career was finished.
West Brom want a £70,000 loan fee for the season and want Rangers to pay the former Chelsea trainee's £10,000-a-week wages in full. QPR are now cash-rich following the takeover of Formula One magnates Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
QPR chairman Gianni Paladini has accused Birmingham managing director Karren Brady of taking advantage of their resources over the sale of Rowan Vine.
The former Portsmouth striker is surplus to requirements at St Andrews despite boss Steve Bruce paying Luton nearly £3m for him nine months ago.
The Blues want Rangers to fork out a massive £500,000 to take the player on a season's loan and also want rid of his £40,000-a-week wages.
Paladini said: "It is true that things have improved for QPR on the financial side.
"But we intend to be as professional as ever, and like every other club, we are also on the look-out for bargains. Karren is a nice lady, but she wants us to shop at Harrods before we have even been to the bargain store.

Default Re: QPR - my blog

hilarious candid interview with our italian chairman

here are some gems:

(Q) What Happened to the Italian Suits?

They are coming next week. The reason why the players never got them last year, was because when we returned fom Italy, Gary Waddock got the sack. John Gregory did not want to give the suits to the players, because he knew he would be getting rid of some players. Whats the point of giving them a suit? They would have run off with them. John and I went to Naples last week and the delivery will be made end of next week. The proper blazers, shirts, trousers etc.

(Q) Any truth In Wilkins and Vialli coming to QPR?

(Answer) No chance

(Q) How do you feel when ex-players like Ferdinand and Gallen say this club would be better without you?

In the case of les Ferdinand, I respect and admire him as a footballer, but we have never met. It is a shame and a disappointment, that people make judgements when you don't even know them.

In regards to Gallen (included Bircham as well) I had a big argument with them after the home defeat against Wolves. They played c.rap. I told them they were thinking more about shopping at Harrods instead of playing football. I never reply to negative comments from those players anymore. I remember they would laugh and joke after we got beat and I didn't like that.
But, i am learning myself, I dont' reply to them now.

(Q) What was your biggest success and biggest failure at QPR?

(Answer) My biggest success was to keep this club going, all that hard work. Dealing with the current investors Flavio and Bernie, to keep this club out of administration with the resources I had. I am getting small memento at end of season from the Football league. The chairman Brian Mawhinny will provide a trophy for the best work done at a club with so little resource.

My biggest failure, To come to QPR and not look at the books. My choice no-one forced me, but I fell in love with the club at Wycombe away game, then the following home game against Luton Town. I did not know the full extent of how much this club was in the s..hit

(Q) did you wear bullet proof vest?He then goes to the side- door to show me the vest in question

(Answer) If the gun didn't kill you this vest would kill you, its so tight and uncomfortable

ok, so no loan signings as yet. Hopefully next week

my take on tomorrows team would be

Camp
Bignot
Mancienne
Cullip
Stewart

Rowlands
Bolder
Leigerwood

Sahar
Blackstock
Nardiello

play with 3 strikers with nardiello taking the wing role feeding into dexter & ben. Leigerwood is the runner & will need to cover ebery inch of grass tomorrow. Rowlands can create & shoot from deistance if required. Cullip & Bignot have to come back into the back 4, they were the reason we stayed up last season yet neither have started a league game this season.
If you believe the reports, JG's job is on the line so we need a big result here against the new manager Megson.

Come on u r's

i believe we can

those odds are too big, we should never be 9/2 against a team that we finished above last season!

not a bad guess, reasonable team apart from Rehman who is awful. Moore isnt much better but we'll see.

worth a draw with that side

excellent for our boys

well done Leigerwood scoring from 30yards & we only conceded a penalty. I'm sure the foxes fans will no doubt be peeved but that result will do me.

A LEGEND

Stan Bowles: On This Date...At this Moment...Thirty Five Years Ago, Bowles Started Becoming a QPR Legend

-
On this day, Thirty Five Years ago...Stan Bowles became an instant QPR Hero...

Bowles made his debut at home to (pre-Brian Clough's) Nottingham Forest, September 16, 1972, two or three days after signing from Carlisle for a club-record 110,000 pounds. Bowles, wearing from that very first game, HIS #10 shirt. Within an hour, he had made the first goal for Don Givens...and scored the second...as Gordon Jago's QPR won 3-0 (Andy McCulloch getting the third). And QPR, of course, went on to promotion.
QPR's team that day.
Parkes
Clement Evans Hazell Watson
Venables Francis Busby
Givens Bowles Mcculloch

looking forward to 2 home games this week with Ollie bringing Plymouth up here tomorrow night.

Plymouth are mid table at best & like most Holloway sides are capable of chucking away easy leads like they did on Saturday.

The point we gained at leicester will have spurred the lads on to believe they can start winning games. the most important thing is getting our first home goal tomorrow & taking it from there.

My preferred line up:

Camp, Bignot, Mancienne, Cullip, Stewart, Rowlands, Hogan, Leigertwood, Nardiello, Blackstock, sahar.

Bolder not playing well but will JG drop the captain? Doubt it, so the only wide player we have in hogan will probably start on the bench.

Come on U R's

Really happy to see a QPR thread running because they are one of the forgotten teams - They have been through the mill over the years but they are the team that gave us...Les Ferdinand, Gary Waddock, Stan Bowles, Tony Currie, Rodney Marsh, Phil Parkes etc etc etc....

Great club and a shame they have fallen into dis-repair....

but hopefully, the new guys have the club's best interests at heart and not out to make a quick buck out of a LONDON team!!!

- HOWEVER - I REALLY DOUBT THAT!!!!!!!

Dont really know about that Frisky, just hope that they can raise the club again

Plymouth weren't good tonight but we were worse. Could have been different, we had 2 that hit the bar with the keeper beaten, but thats football. Plymouth had 3 on target & scored 2.

JG is on borrowed time now with the owners after third successive home defeat with 0 goals scored.

Team selection defied belief again with the worst defender we have ever employed (Zesh Rehman) falling over yet again in the box & gifting Plymouth thier opener. He did have the humiliation of being subbed just so the fans could boo him off!

I stayed to the end unlike 7000 or so who emptied out 5 mins before the end. I must say, it annoys the hell out of me that 3000 less R's fans turned up tonight than the last game. Fcukin hate that side of this. We need their support now more than ever & they decide to stay away.

Cracking game yesterday, bookings, sending off, end to end chances - a true London Derby.

Great result for us against a Watford side who just cant play football. They just boot it up the pitch & they have big men all around the park, they lack skill unfortunately but will finish in top 3 with the depth they have in their squad.

Interesting snippet today

MARK BOSNICH played for our reserves in a friendly vs Barnet!!!!

We won 2-0

Apparently he spent most of the time on his "line"

well, we got well & truly stuffed. Until Gregory sees that the back 4 cannot sustain the likes of Zesh rehman at right back (we have 2 better defenders on the bench who know how to defend rather than rehman who hasnt got a clue).

Barker at left back looked like a conference player, he was so slow & unable to cope with WBA's movement.

Moore was his usual non existent self & we have no threat up front with the 2 lads just chasing balls. We miss Cookie so much from last year & having a ball player helps so much. The banned leigerwood was also missed as WBA drove through our middle line.

JG on borrowed time now as we sit marooned at the bottom. At least 4 chnages from that side will have to be made. He still hasnt got his back 4 from last season together which is beyond me as they are now all fit. Bring Bignot & Timoska in for Rehman & Barker, thats a simple chnage & it will be effective.

who wants to be a ranger s fan
