Only have to look at Keegans first game in charge to see how much things have changed. Bolton happily sshut up shop and barely moved out of their own half the entire match. A perfect advertisement to what the Premeirship has become.

The old footy romantic in me didn't think the Keegan appointment was too bad. But bringing in Denis Wise to oversee things (and paying Leeds to get him) I mean come on wtf like

I think this is a great decision from Shearer - it couldnt have been an easy one for him to make but i think its the right one. Him coming in would have completely overshadowed Keegan.

Shearer thought long and hard about whether he could help Keegan, before concluding another "dominant personality" is not what the Magpies need at present.
The ex-England captain has since seen his fellow former international Dennis Wise arrive as part of the management team assisting Keegan, who returned this month to manage Newcastle following the departure of Sam Allardyce.
Shearer told The Sun: "I have not snubbed anyone or anything like that. I chatted to Kevin for four hours at my house first time. Then we had another long meeting on Monday.
"Throughout the talks, all I was thinking about was what would be best for Newcastle - not what would be best for me.
"This club has given me too much for me to turn my back at a time when I might be able to help. But I don't think I would be a help right now - and I have explained that to Kevin.
"He basically told me I could come in as his assistant or in any role I wanted, but the timing is just not right."
Shearer is well aware his own high profile could end up being a hindrance rather than a help as Keegan tries to ensure Newcastle stay clear of relegation trouble in the Barclays Premier League.
"Right now I think the last thing they would need is another dominant personality, another name," he reasons.
"It needs one personality driving things forward at the club - and that is Kevin Keegan. It needs to be his way, and if it is I think he can turn things round. Myself and Kevin were just too similar personalities - we are both opinionated.
"We are both single-minded and have our ideas about how things should be done. That is not the best mix - you need to be different. So for plenty of reasons, I had to say no.
"I'm not saying the door is closed for ever. Just right now there is plenty to be sorted out there - and one man needs to do it and do it his way.
"All the time I will remain a fan of my club, but for now that is all."

Another game watched, another fuse blown. God following this team is becoming bad for my health. Plain and simply a bunch of overpaid mullockers who portrait that they have less interest in NUFC than they do in this evenings dinner. Thats the way it feels. Seriously these guys are as predictable as the irish weather and honestly im on the verge of just packing it all in.

I feel like i should take offence to other supporters joking or whatever (lol regarding the stock joke) but honestly i just end up laughing along with you guys these days. Following the Irish national team and Newcastle united, i need to have something to smile about in the world of football.

Players i would like to keep at newcastle? err..... probably n'zogbia and taylor. Now if only we could get someone to buy (or take) the rest of them.... or hire a hitman....

we were robbed, did you watch the game?

3 goals disallowed, their goal had 2 men clearly offside and wheater should have been sent off on 2 separate occaisions

Keegan was the wrong choice IMO which ive said all along, but come on, the football we are playing is better than it was, and baring bad decisons today we would have been celebrating a win!

tbh, i think a lot of neutrals enjoy following newcastle (in recent years) because the football has genreally been quite entertaining - problem is that its genreally entertaining ONLY for the neutrals these days. If the same happens at man utd or chelsea, people will be much more forthcoming with their smugness and laughter (nearly added liverpool, but i think we're right there with you atm)

tell you what, looking at those next 7 they've got their work cut out. Most realistic chance of winning has to be Brum away, or Blackburn at home. Both reasonably tough games though for a side scratching around for form.
