Their paths probably crossed in Spain when Poyet was in Spain. Seems a good appointment me to be honest, relatively young coach and very enthusiastic, can speak the lingo, knows the English game and knows Spurs.

A win, a clean sheet and Ramos has 100% success rate in charge of Spurs!! Through to the next round we go!

On a side note interesting to see Kaboul dropped and Keane must be one of the most prolific strikers in Europe! I make his record to be 24 goals in the last 31 appearances! Can anyone beat that?

Thats immense - feell a bit sorry for him really as thats been overshadowed by the defensive frailties. he deserves more credit than he gets for that record...

Yeah, up until recently he has been our player of the season and the player I least want to leave. I find it strange to look back at times when he wasn't in the side and being linked to Aston Villa, Everton and the like. Now if Berbatov can lift his game to match, we couldn't want for a better strikeforce.

Yes Jol beens hard done by....but the work he did over the summer appears to be quite poor...and I cant have TOO much sympathy for a man who paid 17million for Darren Bent.

Ramos would be the bollox, hes the best young manager in the world IMO and if they get him in Spurs will look back on this day and realise it was a good one.

Start of it today, a win over Chelsea in a major cup final and coming from a goal down to do it.

I said Jol was little harshly done by, after watching today, he wasnt, the players belief and ability was miles apart from what they were under Jol. The fitness levels are embrassing stronger.

Now let Ramos work his magic during the summer.

I meant in the context of today, that was Spurs route back into Europe and they had to beat one of the best teams in europe to do it.

Of course it's a big trophy, all this "mickey mouse" stuff is complete bollox.

90,000 at Wembley, how can that possibly not be a big game, and a big cup to win??? It's one of only 3 domestic trophies available at the start of the season and is a route into Europe. Anybody saying it's not a major trophy is talking sh!te imo.

Top call.

I was sceptical but you argue with the results. Is Ramos going to be Spurs' Wenger?

I had some doubts about Ramos when he came in. His profile at Seville was good but doing it in this country can be a totally different thing. However along with the fantastic Poyet whos role in the team cannot be underestimated, a change has happened at Spurs. Jol did a fairly good job. To finish fifth two years on the trot even with money and some of the best youngsters in the country was good. However if he did have some 'faults' Ramos seems to be without them. Ramos is just so professional. One reason I doubted the appointement slightly was that I was not sure if he could get the discipline into the team the underperforming players needed, he totally has changed that feeling. We are fitter, we are more disciplined, his tactical changes at times do not always seem to add up but they work, certainly did today. Jol did not have those attributes certainly in the big games, I mean the amount of leads we had against top 4 teams only to throw them away. Onwards and upwards, I hope.

I dont think anyone can really argue with the Ramos appointment now - the improvement is there for all to see. I dont think you'd be Carling Cup holders with Jol still in charge.

I was a big MJ fan, but you can't argue with the change since Ramos took over and i agree taht we wouldn't have won it with MJ - we certainly wouldn't have come back from a goal down against a team like Chelsea.

Basically in the last 6 weeks we've outplayed Man U, Arsenal (notwithstanding the debate on team selection) and now Chelsea so it's not just a flash in the pan.

The biggest indictment for me with Jol is this issue of the players weight and hence fitness. It's shocking that professional sportsmen are in the position where they have weight to lose during the season.

100% agree Pobby, I loved Jol and was sad t see him go but well done to Levy and Commoli for eyeing up Ramos and sticking by their conviction to get him in.

Chrissy Hughton now up at Newcastle, watch them balloon in weight and be unable to defend set pieces now

Its clear to see that Huddlestone has lost weight since Ramos took over but this made me laugh from my brother - He was at Faces club in Gants Hill after you guys beat Derby and bumped into Huddlestone and Aaron Lennon Gants Hill Kebabs afterwards. Their orders? Chips in Pitta with Mayo for Lennon and a Lamb Shish with Garlic Sauce for Huddlestone
