i'm very happy with this signing - very talented footballer that can make the jump up to this level and someone who we dont have too similar a player to in the club.

i still think we need a really solid CD though...

That's the going rate for a proven top striker who scores regularly!
So yes he's worth it!

I can see him and Torres working very well together with Kuyt a decent enough sub in case of injuries or in the not so important games allowing either of them a rest. Babel can play as a striker too if needed.

I don't know what Levy's beef is though? I'm certain he's trying to deflect criticism onto Liverpool so the Tottenham fans don't berate him!

I hope we keep Alonso because he is a quality player! Forget paying £20 million for Barry as Liverpool should make a stand with the prick O'Neill who has constantly gone back on his word! Take the Scott Carson scenario for instance - a gentleman's agreement of £10 million was in place put there by O'Neill himself so he could take Carson on a season long loan!
Then when it comes to actually paying up he renages on it!
I genuinely feel sorry for Barry but he's not worth £20 million simple as that! At least with Keane he will get 20 plus goals a season which in my mind is worth the price tag in todays market!

We have him already Ali - Agger was starting to bloom until he got his injury and Skirtel will only get better as last season he played well for the best part!
We have Hyypia for back up and I also think Dossena has played at CD. He could be a decent purchase, Dossena as he was getting rave reviews in Serie A.
Just ship Voronin out now and get Downing from Boro and I genuinely believe we will push Man Utd and Chelsea right down to the wire!

Keane is a good signing no doubt about that. You have a first team as good as any in the country, I still think a lack of squad depth and a manager that will always see the CL as his priority will leave you 6 or 7 pts short again, but yeah you should go closer than last seasn

Delighted with Keane signing, its the first of those we have signed this summer that I have actually heard of. Though thats not always a bad thing as I hadn't heard of Skrtel or Agger before either really. Looking forward to seeing him play for us, think he's a quality signing.

Well done on signing Robbie Keane, I admit that I was wrong in thinking that it was all just mindless speculation. I think he will do a great job for you and I'm gutted that after 6 seasons he's leaving White Hart Lane and Spurs behind. Keane at the end of last season told everyone how much he loved being at the club, shows just how little words can really mean. I wish him all the best in his future though as he gave a lot to Spurs and gave me and many other Spurs fans many happy memories during his time at the club. Well done on signing a good player who can help you move forward as a team.

£20M+ for a 28-year old striker - seems like Liverpool have paid over the odds to me. A good bit of business by Spurs I think.

As much as I like Keane as a footballer I think the club has paid well over the odds for him, shocked to learn of a 20m fee. Cracking deal for Spurs in my opinion.

While this may be the case but imagine what would be said if we had paid that much for Barry.... I can hardly imagine.... Mid table teams will always make a team like Liverpool overpay and in this case I'll let it slide considering the alternatives...

I can't help but get the feeling that one of the reasons Benitez was after Barry and Keane was to weaken two sides that had the ability and potential Liverpool's spot at the top 4 table. Keane was vice captain at Spurs, Barry is captain at Villa and both players have been amongst the top players at their respective clubs for the last few seasons. Keane was the fans player of the season, ahead of Berbatov, for the last few seasons which probably says more about his popularity with the fans than his ability, well at least until all this happened. Barry is the same and again the popularity of both player has been severely tarnished as a result of this. Spurs will have to replace Keane and likely with a striker new to the Premiership who will have to settle back in again. Liverpool meanwhile have a new striker option and know that Spurs are weaker than they were just a week ago. Barry has been unsettled, Villa too and if the deal doesn't go through then it will have still affected the clubs chances. Two top players from two of the sides to have most realistic claims for a chance to play their way in to the top 4.

I'm not sure about the price, I know that people say it is too much but for that price Liverpool are getting a striker with Premiership and European experience and who can both score goals and bring others in to play. I think the price tag will be more clearly assessed after the first season and will then be dependant on how Benitez has used Keane and how Keane has performed when given a chance and the difference made to Liverpool.

Keane will do his talking on the pitch this season, if Tevez is being touted at 35million, then 19million,looks a bargain.

I had the Keane Converstaion with a Spurs fan on here last year and reckoned at the time that they should take the 10M banded about and run...Then he got linked with My club and I spend half the Summer sh1tting a brick and about to be made look very foolish - thankfully it never happened. How they got £20M is beyond me ???

Keane has certainly stroked this one big time...

Villa for £25M v Keane £20M - I know who Id pick any day of the year.

If Everton get £12-13M for Andy Johnson then that may well outdo this but...

This beats the £6M for Michael Chopra for pure stupidity hands down..

Agger, Carragher, Skirtel, Dossena. Is this likely to be Liverpool's back four in the majority of games this season?

Depends how you view the value of £20m - if you compare the £27m paid for Torres, it seems like he may be a few million overpriced (as is EVERY decent british player). But then if you compare it to the £16m paid for Darren Bent....

So I assume you didnt see Bent and Dos Santos yesterday ??

Thay looked fantasic although it was only Norwich!!

Never though Id say this but give Bent a little time and a few games and he could actually be decent!!!

Keane will never be.... He is "predictable City" - Any decent defender knows what happens next. His goals ratio looks good for one thing PENALTIES - So will he take them for Liverpool ? or will StevieG cry "Foul" ??? Having 2 diving players in one team will never work...

I dread every time he puts on an Irish shirt as he is usually taking the place of Shaun Long or Kevin Doyle and I would prefer them ANY day. Damiem Duff was the only reason Keane has done well with Ireland. When that supply died off due to injury, he returned to being his useless self - Ask Most Irish fans....
