We went 3 months, or close to it, without a league win under Houllier in the 02/03 season iirc. The season we ended playing at Stamford Bridge for 4th place and lost 2-1 to them.

Nothing much of note from us in the transfer window. Skrtel is a much needed addition at the back, and I'm happy that we have sold Sissoko. Seems Mascherano at some point in the next week or two will join permanently for about 18M.

Idrizaj and Peltier have left the club as well.

Kuyt needs shooting! After a great start as a Liverpool player he's got gradually worse and worse. He has absolutely no confidence left and needs some time out of the side. Rafa seems to prefer going 451 than picking Crouch though

TORRES OUT OF CHELSEA CLASH
Jimmy Rice 07 February 2008
Rafa Benitez has confirmed Liverpool fans' worst fears by revealing Fernando Torres is very unlikely to feature against Chelsea on Sunday.
The striker lasted just 23 minutes of Spain's 1-0 victory over France on Wednesday after picking up a hamstring injury.

The news comes as a major blow for Benitez, who is already without Daniel Agger, Andriy Voronin, Alvaro Arbeloa, Fabio Aurelio and the suspended Xabi Alonso.

On top of this, Javier Mascherano will not arrive back at Melwood until Friday due to Argentina's friendly clash with Guatemala later today.

Benitez said: "We have lost Torres and Mascherano is not back until tomorrow. I don't think it (the international friendly situation) is fair. I think Mascherano will be okay for Sunday but we will have to see.

"The news we have on Torres is that it is a hamstring injury. I need to talk to the doctor but I think he will miss this game. Normally it is a week when a player goes off like this.

"It is a big problem for us."

Its an away game to one of the other 3. We never do anything anyway, may as well get the excuse in early eh.

It'll probably end up with Kuyt up front on his own on Sunday now

Should have the squad to deal with this.......

We have missed our forward RVP for most of the season....but have not used that as a excuse (YET)...

Torres injury might be a blessing in disguise for Liverpool...
It will give Crouch an opportunity which I think he'll take with both hands as he has continually been overlooked by Liverpool in the premiership and yet whenever he gets a start in the cup comps he always seems to score!!!
I have always backed up Rafa in arguments in the pub with friends, however my arguments are wearing thin now and I'm doubting his ability to put Liverpool anywhere near Man Utd. Arsenal & Chelsea in the premiership title race. His team selections baffle me this season week in week out in the premiership! Why he perseveres with Kewell I'll never know as he is rancid and well past it. Kuyt is a headless chicken who runs around a lot with no end product. Hyppia although has been a fantastic servant for us is now too slow and gets naively exposed when somebody with genuine pace takes him on!
Why did we fork out £10+ million on Babel to let him warm the bench? when he always looks dangerous when thrown into the fray for approx 20 minutes of every premiership game!
I have a strong feeling that if Hicks & Gillet are still the owners come the start of next season Rafa will not be in charge and to be honest I wouldn't blame them for getting rid of Rafa as he is naive when it comes to the premiership!
If Mourinho is not Barcelona manager by then I think Liverpool will get him!

There we go then, it was nothing to do with bad tactics or rotation afterall!

Rafa blames rift for bad results

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez believes he has "the perfect excuse" for his side's lacklustre performance in the Premier League this season.
Benitez: Too many draws

The Spanish coach's relationship with co-owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks came in for some intense scrutiny around the turn of the year as concerns over the size of the available transfer budget seemingly caused a rift.
Hicks later admitted that the Americans had held talks with former Germany manager Jurgen Klinsmann - a fact which further destabilised Benitez's position and led to fan protests in defence of the manager.
"What is evident is that back at that time, we were in a great position and the team was in shape to win many of the games which we eventually drew," he told the News of the World.
"So the entire process is what allowed the gap to open between us and the leaders.
"If I wanted, I have the perfect excuse. The only solution I have is to try to bury myself in my work."
The Reds travel to face Chelsea on Sunday with their title ambitions extinguished and a battle to retain their Champions League berth for next season now their primary focus.
Benitez added: "What is vital is that we win to enable us to fight for at least the fourth-placed spot."

Well done Barnsley, mammoth cup upset that. Well done to luke Steele who seems to have had the game of his life. The magic of the FA Cup remains.

We could have hardly had an easier route into the quarter finals with all due respect to the sides faced, but its been one humbling after another.

Any fans thinking Rafa is still the man to be in charge have had the wake up call today.
