The thing is with Bellamy and why he played his best football ever in his whole career with us is that he needs games.

No-one will see the best out of him from 1 or 2 or 3 starts every 6 weeks.
He needs 10 games in a row to see just what a vital player he is.

Im telling you now if he was 'English' he would be up there with Rooney instead of Owen.

HICKS: NEW STADIUM WILL EXCITE FANS
Steve Hunter 05 June 2007
Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks has revealed that plans for the new stadium have now been finalised and promised Reds fans will love what they see.
According to Hicks, the new designs are set to be presented to the council later this month and then will be available for the fans to see.

"The design is now final," he enthused, "it's spectacular and I can't wait for everybody to see it. I think our fans will love it. It's very creative architecture, very contemporary but also unique to Liverpool.

"It is all centered around the Kop - it will be the symphony stage that plays to the symphony hall."

Looking forward to finally seeing what they've come up, it needs to happen to compete off the field with the like of the mob down the East Lancs Road, Chelski and the Gunners now they have their all singing and all dancing new number.

its that bit that make me a bit wary, the Olympic Symbol was 'very creative architecture, very contemporary'
I hope they do a good job not making into a wembley farce and also keep the feel and the tradition of the Kop.

Ive heard the tables in the VIP lounge will be made from 2nd hand wheel trims.

Skysports.com can reveal that Liverpool have agreed a mutual co-operation with Hungarian club MTK Hungaria.
The Reds recently signed youngsters Andras Simon and Krisztian Nemeth (pictured) from the Budapest-based side, and a more formal association between the two clubs has now been announced.
As part of the agreement Liverpool will financially support MTK's Karoly Sandor academy, which produced both Simon and Nemeth, as well as assisting in the education of its young scholars.
Liverpool will be able to cherry-pick the best talents from MTK's academy, whilst The Reds may also send their own youth players and reserves to play in Hungary if they fail to make the grade at Anfield.
Revealing the co-operation in Agard on Tuesday, MTK general director Laszlo Domonyai hailed the link-up with Liverpool as a historic moment for Hungarian football.
"This is a milestone not only for MTK but for the whole of Hungarian football because Hungarian talents will get such an opportunity from this agreement that they could only dream about before in an academy like Agard's," Domonyai told skysports.com.
MTk also revealed that many European clubs were keen on linking up with the Hungarian side, but the vision of Reds boss Rafa Benitiez helped to sway the deal in Liverpool's favour.
Academy director Zsolt Tamasi added: "I can't express in words what an honour it is for us that Rafael Benitez and his team found us worthy for this co-operation.
"I think from now on all the members of the academy can be more proud of themselves." The first fruit of the agreement will see MTK's young goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi spend 10 days at Liverpool's Melwood training ground, starting on 4th July.

REDS TO KICK OFF SEASON AT VILLA PARK
Paul Rogers 14 June 2007
Liverpool will kick off the 2007-08 Barclays Premier League season away to Martin O'Neill's Aston Villa and end the campaign with a trip to White Hart Lane to face Tottenham Hotspur.
The fixture list for the new season was released by the Premier League on Thursday morning at 10am and, as ever, it's essential reading for every Liverpool supporter.

Liverpool will be hoping to pick up all three points on the opening day despite being handed a tough away fixture. Last season, Rafael Benitez watched his side fall two points behind eventual champions Manchester United on the first day of the season when the Reds could only muster a 1-1 draw with newly promoted Sheffield United.

Liverpool's first home game is scheduled to be against West Ham on Wednesday August 15 - although this could be postponed due to a Champions League Qualifier.

2007 Runners Up Chelsea visit Merseyside on August 18, while the first Merseyside derby of the new season will take place on October 20.

Arsenal travel to Anfield on October 27, while Manchester United vist on December 15.

There will be a Boxing Day trip to Pride Park to face newly promoted Derby County, a home fixture against Wigan on New Year's Day and a journey to Stamford Bridge on February 9.

Liverpool's game against Everton on March 29 is sandwiched between Manchester United away on March 22 and Arsenal away on April 5.

Worst possible first fixtures for me really, one game I had pencilled in to go to next season, its a definate no now. Sunderland away is another, that was a certain one I'd be going to, but I am in Spain that week.

Not sure with the Champs League which game gets scrubbed for a while, West Ham one looksa likely contender. 4th or 5th? year in a row we begin the season away from home, bit ridiculous really.

Rumours abound that a bid of £25 for Torres is in the offering, thats for me is the kind of player we should be looking at bringing to Anfield.

Not and I know how Darren feels about this the rumours that won't go away linking us with a bid for Villarreal's Diego Forlan! £15m, sorry Rafa but you've lost me on that one!

Dave, I can't possibly comment on the Forlan for 15M link. The air would turn blue and I'd get a lengthy ban for what I have to say

£25 for torres would be a bargain. That must value Bellamy at at least a pint of Stella and a packet of pork scratchings.

Can't see why anyone would entertain the idea of Forlan, he's been over here and failed. Well aside from the time he won the game for united against Liverpool anyway, I doubt thats been forgotten.

Seriously though, Torres is the kind of playert hat's going to be an addition to any side. It wouldn't surprise me to see united in for him. In terms of building the squad to seriously challenge for the league any side with designs on overtaking Chelsea and United need to be spending in the region of £125-175M over the next 2 years, will Gilett be willing to fund that investment?

I'll gladly stand corrected on this one, but nope. The combination of the four are unable to spend imo. Parry will talk about spending on players, Rafa will seem to demand it, but between the 4 they seem to get to the stage of buying and say "oooh thats a bit costly for him".

I reckon 50M spent well and the right tactics and metality would push us into a title challenge. Spending big isn't always spending well mind, Veron was a great player - till he came to England. We can't continue with budget signings if we want to win the league though, we need 2-3 big signings this summer and to hope they settle and adapt quickly. But its been all talk and little action so far, and in the meantime Man Utd have signed 3 players for 50M or so and Cheslea have signed 3 players.

We have signed 1, in a position we didn't lack in to begin with. The players signing new deals is great, but the new faces are also needed.

RAFA ON TRANSFERS: THERE IS NO URGENCY YET
Mark Platt 23 June 2007
Rafael Benitez has told supporters not to panic about the club's lack of transfer activity so far this summer.
With the the first batch of players due back at Melwood for the start of pre-season training on Thursday press speculation is rife as to what 'big names' are on the Liverpool manager's shortlist.

But although he's keen to strengthen the squad as soon as possible, Benitez remains calm and insists progress is being made behind the scenes to bring new faces in.

"We have a number of targets, and I am receiving interesting phone calls all the time," he said.

"We are monitoring situations all the time and there is no urgency yet. If we bring in players from Spain, they only finished playing a week ago so they will need a longer break, but I would like somebody in before we start pre-season training."

just looked at the fixtures and have to say i'm quite happy with that run in

with the exception of 3 games against man utd everton and arsenal, from mid-feb we have a relitvely easy-ish run and the type that is supportive of a good cup-run/win.

Good Thread Darren I enjoyed reading through that.

I dunno if you've seen thread but here's the night we won the CL
Please god don't let Liverpool win on Wednesday

Just read this on the BBC

Torres scored 14 goals last season for Atletico

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo says Liverpool have not tabled a bid for striker Fernando Torres.

Champions League finalists Liverpool have been closely linked with the 23-year-old Spain international.
"We've had no offer from Liverpool for Torres," said Cerezo. "He's on his holiday and resting.
"I repeat that there has been nothing about Torres from any team. We're now working to create a good team for the coming year," added Cerezo.
Torres, 23, scored 14 league goals in 36 starts this season as Atletico finished seventh in La Liga.
The Spanish international's Atletico contract runs until 2009. Torres came up though the youth ranks at Atletico and has been their leading scorer in each of the last five seasons

Liverpoolfc.tv 27 June 2007
Carlsberg has extended its partnership with Liverpool FC as Official Club Sponsor for a further three years to the end of the 2009/10 season.
Carlsberg has been the Main Club Sponsor of Liverpool since 1992, the longest club partnership in The Premiership.

"The Carlsberg and Liverpool partnership is one of the longest and most successful in football, based on trust and mutual respect," said Rick Parry, Chief Executive, Liverpool FC.

"We share a commitment to excellence in our respective fields and we look forward to building an even stronger relationship as we move forwards."

Keld Strudahl, International Marketing Director, Carlsberg, said: "Carlsberg is very determined to support Liverpool in its ambition of continuous improving the team.

"We hope to see an even stronger performance and hopefully some more trophies in the next three years. Carlsberg's continued involvement with the club enables us to jointly build on our relationships with the international fan community.

"Also, we have great respect for Liverpool FC's new owners and are looking forward to continue our good relationship with the club and further add to the strong bond that has developed with the club, players, staff and fans over the years."

REDS NAME NEW ACADEMY TECHNICAL MANAGER
Paul Rogers 27 June 2007
Liverpool have confirmed Piet Hamberg as their new Academy Technical Manager, with the former Ajax player taking up the position in July.
Hamberg, who played professionally in both the Dutch and Swiss leagues, joins from Grasshoppers of Zurich where he has overseen the youth set-up.

He has previously coached in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Hamberg will be part of a new-look Academy management structure introduced by the club this summer. He will work alongside John Owens, who has moved from Under-18 Coach to become Academy Manager, and Malcolm Elias, who will head up all Academy recruitment.

Chief Executive Rick Parry said: "Following the departure of Steve Heighway, we took the opportunity to review the Academy structure and decided to separate the very distinct roles.

"Piet will come in with the specific brief to head up the coaching and development side, while Malcolm will be in charge of all recruitment. But continuity is also very important, which is why we are taking full advantage of John's many years of experience within the youth system by promoting him to Academy Manager."

Reds Manager Rafa Benitez said: "We have had some very good reports about Piet and he will bring great experience to the new role. Our youngsters can only benefit from working with someone with his background in youth development."

Liverpool capture keeper Mihaylov

Mihaylov made his senior international debut against Scotland

Liverpool have signed Bulgaria under-21 international goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov from Bulgarian Champions Levski Sofia.
Mihaylov, who is the son of Bulgarian Football Union president Borislav Mihaylov, has signed a three-year deal with an option for a further two years.
"I have no words," Mihaylov told Bulgarian sports Web site www.sportal.bg.
"This is the greatest moment of my life," added the 18-year-old keeper. Mihaylov, who turns 19 on Thursday, made his senior international debut in a 5-1 defeat by Scotland in the Kirin Cup in Japan in May 2006. He was in the Levski squad in the Champions League group stages last year.
