Leeds 1-0 Luton

Markus Heikkenin challenges match-winner Cresswell

Richard Cresswell hit the winner to throw Leeds a survival lifeline as fellow strugglers Luton were left to rue a late penalty miss at Elland Road.
Jonathan Douglas headed onto the bar twice and Robbie Blake also hit the woodwork as Leeds took charge early on. Cresswell finally scored when he turned on Jemal Johnson's pass to fire home. A late rally was inevitable and Luton almost levelled when Matt Heath felled Leon Barnett, only for Casper Ankergren to save Dean Morgan's woeful penalty.

Bloody hell, how close now?

The next 9-11 games are gonna be massive. Norwich are 17th on 44, not out of it either.

I was at the game, atmosphere was pretty good in the kop, at times reminded me of our EPL days.

We bossed the 1st half but somehow didnt score, hitting the woodwork on 4 separate occassions

got the breakthrough early in the 2nd half, Cresswell sneaking the ball home past the fingertips of the keeper. Luton were much better after the break and had the odd chance to equalise. Looked as if we would hold on until the ref awarded a penalty with not long left. Was poorly struck and our keeper stopped it with his legs. The roar that went out round the ground was immense. FT1-0 and we ain't down yet

Leicester and Southend next, if we could get 4 points out of those games then I'd be happy. 6 probably asking too much but u never know, this might be the springboard we need.

Massive result for Leeds. Soccer Saturday right at the death brought it up as 1-1, but some Luton guy missed.

Something to build on now, it is so so tight. I could see all of the bottom 3 escaping and 3 others going down tbh.

Leicester are not safe yet either, so 2 massive games coming up.

Wasn't a bad atmosphere was it? Must be that war cry you gave out 6 weeks ago . Was a good game I guess for you lot but you've got to improve on that to stay up. We were diabolically bad and you still only beat us 1-0. We did a no show for 88 mins and could still have won 2-1.

Christ knows how you only won that 1-0. We could've done with you winning 4 or 5-0 like you should've because only losing 1-0 and could have won it 2-1 papers over the cracks and the reality that for 88 mins we didn't show up.

there are things that we need to improve on aye. Your performance must have been worrying. Everyone up here reckons Luton are the bankers to go at the moment. I know you have more potential though so I aint buying that

It's gonna be so close. GL to ya Kev, and Bowsey to with QPR. I still hope its Dull, Coalmunching ***** and Saaaaaaaaaaarfend who go down.

Pearce blocks Mills Leeds return

Mills has 19 caps for England

Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce has ruled out a loan move to Leeds for defender Danny Mills.
Mills has been linked with a switch to his former club to help their fight to avoid relegation from the Championship.
But Pearce said the deal cannot go through because Mills, 29, is yet to recover from a shin splints injury.
"Until we get him fully fit, we can't make any decision about him. Danny is happy with that and understands the situation," said Pearce.
Mills signed a two-month loan deal with Hull earlier in the season but was forced to end that spell after picking up the knock.
"Unfortunately, Danny is not fit at the moment," added Pearce. "He has still to get over the stress fracture of his shin."
Mills joined City in July 2004 on a free transfer from Leeds.

Can't remember, but was Danny Mills sold cause of his wages or did he feck off like the other players (smith, ferdinand etc etc) if its the latter do we want him back

Mills might've been a good signing actually, Frazer Richardson in our current team has had some poor recent performances.

maybe when pearce gets sacked he might be able to make it over

allez Leeds tonight, got a chance against Leicester, at least to get a point IMO. The force is back with us, come on lads

Unbelievable, go 1-0 up, concede a soft goal not more than 1 minuite later.

I love this division, it changes every week, at both ends. Good result for Leeds tonight, but other result kind of went against them. But a big result I think still.

Any 3 from at the very least 6. Leeds host Southend next? A massive 6 pointer.

fcking southend have pissed me off a lot this season. I'd love to see us give them a good old rogering this weekend

a good point tonight I'd say, least we got something. QPR drawing was a shame, although I hear they were the better team and should've won. Hopefully Plymouth will do a job on Barnsley tommorow. Burnley starting to really slide now after this Southend loss. Cotterill out I'd say, u cant expect the fans to put up with no win in 16.

Surely now there must also be calls for Mike Newell's head at Luton. The defeat to Hull is now their 5th successive one and fans cant be expected to be content with this nightmare run.

Why .

Newell was the man to get us into the Championship so he can be the man to keep us in the Championship.
