going down GAF is all I can say, it don't look good for the Gills. Deffo the worst team we've played against this season by a good margin

Leeds recruit Andrews & De Vries

Leeds have signed Coventry striker Wayne Andrews and Leicester forward Mark De Vries on one-month loan deals, report BBC Radio Leeds.

Andrews, 29, and De Vries, 32, go straight into the squad for Tuesday's League One match at Oldham.

De Vries has made eight appearances and scored once for the Foxes this season but Andrews has only come on once as a substitute for the Sky Blue this term.
The pair have been recruited as Leeds are short of strikers. Leeds boss Dennis Wise is without the services of Tresor Kandol and Jermaine Beckford who are both suspended

Oldham 0-1 Leeds

Ian Westlake's last-minute winner gave Leeds a dramatic victory over Oldham.

Westlake came off the bench seconds before scoring with an explosive volley after Sebastien Carole's cross was not properly cleared by the Latics.
The visitors had earlier seen good chances for Mark De Vries and Wayne Andrews go astray as Oldham clung on.

Oldham keeper Mark Crossley also tipped a David Prutton header over the bar, while the home side never seriously tested Leeds keeper Casper Ankergren.

Leeds boss Dennis Wise has been named as the League One manager of the month for September.

Wise's team won four and drew one of their five matches during the month.

He claimed the award in August when the Elland Road side won all three of their league games against Tranmere, Southend and Nottingham Forest.

The other contenders for the monthly prize were Nottingham Forest's Colin Calderwood, Martin Ling of Leyton Orient and Southend's Steve Tilson.

Leeds 1-0 Yeovil

Substitute Mark De Vries scored with a minute remaining to seal victory for Leeds over Yeovil.

The on-loan striker rose at the far post to head home Jonathan Douglas' cross as Leeds moved up to 12th.

Yeovil were the better side in the first half and Leeds keeper Casper Ankergren made excellent saves to deny Anthony Barry and Paul Warne.
Leeds had a second-half penalty claim for handball turned down before De Vries snatched victory.

Leeds: Ankergren, Richardson, Marques, Heath, Clapham, Prutton (Flo 76), Douglas, Hughes (Westlake 84), Carole (De Vries 76), Beckford, Kandol.
Subs Not Used: Huntington, Da Costa.

Booked: Heath, Hughes.

Goals: De Vries 89.

Dennis Wise welcomed striker pairing Jermaine Beckford and Tresor Kandol back to the starting line up as United went in search of a ninth win of the campaign.

It was Yeovil's first ever visit to Elland Road, and the visitors looked undaunted in the surrounds as they made a bright start to what was shaping up to be an entertaining contest.

It was an open game, and United goalkeeper Casper Ankergren made the first save after 19 minutes when he spread himself well to deny Anthony Barry after a quick break by Yeovil.
Five minutes later, Seb Carole lifted a shot over the bar after good build-up play involving Jonathan Douglas, Andrew Hughes, and Beckford.

The early promise of the game faded before the half-hour, though, as the clash became a stop-start affair with neither side finding any real fluency.
Jamie Clapham had a shot blocked from distance and, at the other end, Ankergren made another good save, this time turning a Paul Warne shot around the post.

But there was little else to excite the sizeable crowd as the game meandered towards half-time.

The first attempt of the second period came courtesy of Beckford, who tried his luck with an effort from distance.

Hughes also had a shot blocked, and Clapham fired a first-time effort wide of the mark as United, with Carole playing behind the front two and Douglas pulling the strings behind him, looked to up the tempo.

Wise's men slowly started to take a grip on the contest, but Yeovil were robust at the back and defended solidly in numbers while looking to hit Leeds on the break.

Hughes - backed by the noise of the South Stand - screamed for a penalty for a handall on 67 minutes and on 74 minutes Marcus Stewart wasted a great chance for Yeovil, following a good cross from Kevin Betsy.

As the clock ticked down, Wise made a double substitution with Tore Andre Flo replacing Dave Prutton, and Mark De Vries making his home debut in place of Carole. Wise also changed his formation again to go for broke with three up-front, and Flo operating just behind.
It was a bold statement of intent, and Tresor Kandol went close within minutes when Romain Larrieu got down well to keep out a header.

With five minutes remaining, Ian Westlake, hero of the midweek win at Oldham, replaced Hughes as United looked to finish with a flourish.
Yeovil goalkeeper Larrieu was called upon to make a good save when Douglas swung a free-kick towards the far post and Mark Lynch did well to shepherd De Vries out of play.

It was backs against the wall stuff for defiant Yeovil now and Frazer Richardson was next to have a go when he fired over the top from distance.

But, just when Yeovil thought they were home and dry, that last-minute spirit raised its head again as United took the lead.
Douglas sent in a free-kick from the left and De Vries rose at the far post to head home his first goal for the club.
It was enough to secure United's ninth win from 10 games and narrow the gap on the Play-Off places.

crap game till the 89th minute. bit unfair on yeovil, thought they played well enough for a draw. to say they had a few injuries it was a good performance. they are a good side and should be ok in the division. the club has come a long way in the last few years and good luck to them. a very professional outfit.

fans on the pitch again when de vries scored, a lad was joining in with the celebrations! hugging all the players then jumped back into the south stand! didn't see him get nicked either, was quite funny actually

my memory is a bit fuzzy though, as i had the mother of all hangovers, and had to have a few pints of cider cos i couldn't face any beer!

down to 9/4 to win the title now, forest ominously winning again. gonna be leeds and forest at the top, defo.

wtf happened to orient??????

get in there leeds, home again next saturday, on sky tues night against darlo in the jpt. gonna be a good day sat! footy, then pub in headingley to watch the rhinos in the grand final.

Darlington 0-1 Leeds

Leeds saw off the challenge of Darlington in the northern section, second round to secure their progress in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Central defender Paul Huntington grabbed the winner for the League One side when he headed in a Jonathan Howson corner early in the second half.
Mark de Vries then struck the woodwork
