Theres the classic story thats relayed in this months 442 about his time at Leeds - which sums his whole tenure up perfectly (whether true or not) . . . .
  • Seth Johnson + Agent go for talks with Risdale at a service station
  • Seth Johnson + Agent plan to ask for £25,000 p/w with the hope of getting £18,000
  • Ridsdale's first offer is £37,000

Leeds keen on Hibs skipper Jones

Rob Jones has three years of his Hibs contract to run

Leeds United manager Dennis Wise has failed with a bid for defender Rob Jones but may return with an improved offer for the Hibernian captain.

"We put an offer in for him and got turned down," he told BBC Radio Leeds.

"We're trying to find out what else they would like. We'll have to see what happens over the next week or so."
Jones is unhappy with the improved contract he has been offered by Hibs but insists he has no plans to submit a transfer request.

And the towering centre-half told BBC Sport he will "continue to give 100%" for manager John Collins and the club.

Collins believes Jones merits a new deal but stressed it was a matter for the board and the player to discuss.

"I am not going to deny that there has been interest in him but he is too important to the team to let him go," Collins told the Edinburgh Evening News.

"Rob has done a terrific job for us and when players are doing well other clubs can take notice.
"I don't want to sell him and he is under contract."

The 27-year-old has become a first-team regular with Hibs after leaving Grimsby Town last summer.
And he lifted the CIS Insurance Cup for the Edinburgh side in March.

But recent reports have linked the towering defender with Swansea and now Leeds have made an offer.
Agent Kevin Smith told The Sun: "I know Rob has spoken with the chairman and expressed his desire to go back to England to play his football.

"But Hibs have made it clear that he is not for sale and there is bad feeling and disappointment on our side.
"It was agreed under previous manager Tony Mowbray that, if Rob did well, we could come back to the table to review things.

"But the offer from Hibs was not acceptable and we are very disappointed by it.

"I have heard rumours that Hibs are looking for around £1m for Rob.

MY SPORT: DEBATE
Would Hibs fans be sorry to see their skipper leave?

"But if they are looking for that kind of figure then they should aim to reflect that in his salary and they have not done that.
"Rob is contracted to Hibs for another three seasons, but he has personal issues and they will need to be addressed at some point. "But, at the moment, he is captain of Hibs and he will continued to serve them with loyalty until that situation changes."

Clock ticking, Wise looking for 3 - 4 new players

BUT

Tranmere reject Leeds' Davies bid

Tranmere Rovers have turned down a third bid from Leeds United for winger Steve Davies.

The club hope to secure Davies, 19, on a new contract at Prenton Park but are still awaiting a response and admit the ball is in the player's court.

"Clubs have much less power than they used to, even with younger players, and there is only so much we can do," boss Ronnie Moore told Tranmere's website. Davies has made over 50 appearances for coming through Rovers's youth scheme.

Prob dock us more points

FA 'considering' Poyet remarks

Gus Poyet

The Football Association are ready to investigate Gus Poyet's comments about referee Andy D'Urso after Leeds' assistant boss accused the the Essex official of bias against himself and manager Dennis Wise.
The former Chelsea, Tottenham and Uruguay midfielder is facing a fine or even a ban from the touchline following last night's 3-0 Carling Cup defeat at Portsmouth after Poyet said: "I don't want to see Andy D'Urso at a Leeds match again.

"He cannot forget what he did to Dennis (Wise) and me as players and it has continued into management."

Poyet recalled both he and Wise having been sent off by D'Urso during their playing days and claimed now it was "personal and very sad. He is always laughing on the pitch but won't give any hard decisions.

He added: "When there is something complicated in the box, he won't give anything at all.

An FA spokesman said: "We are aware of his comments and are considering them."

The likelihood is that the FA will write to Poyet asking him to explain what he said at a post-match media-briefing, in which he took Wise's place, and there could be a charge against him relating to club officials' behaviour towards referees.

Poyet made it clear his remarks were not just about the match at Fratton Park, where he admitted "Portsmouth were great and deserved their win".

But he insisted his side should have been awarded a penalty in the game which might have changed it's complexion.

Relegated Leeds, who started the season with a 15-point deduction because of chairman Ken Bates' administrative dealings and are bottom of Coca-Cola League One despite three straight league wins, were with only four substitutes at Fratton Park and gave teenage striker Tomi Ameobi a first-team debut.

Poyet explained: "We are down to just 15 fit players in the squad and had no other options."

Don't understand how Wise deserves manager of the month. No doubt that twat Kamara was behind it somehow.

Orient won all their games too, and away at a Championship side in the Cup.
Leeds were promotion favourites, Orient relegation favourites, which is the bigger achievement?

Still, I don't really care - the MOTM award is a bit of a poisoned chalice.

err its leeds winning 3 on the trot in the league, thats why wise won manager of the month. every team in league 1's cup final is leeds united, so to win 3 cup finals is way bigger! but the football league can go and get fooked. and yep , kamara is a twat, but what has diomansy got to do with leeds, ho ho!

i agree re: wise - leeds have a strong enough squad to piss this league. the only thing that wise really brings is the old wimbledon mentality of 'everybody hates us so lets fcuk 'em!', only this time he's right

Mate, Orient won 3 on the trot in the League as well. Like Leeds, 1 home win, 2 away wins.

Leeds won away in the Cup at Macclesfield, 1 division below.
Orient won away in the Cup at QPR, 1 division above.

I don't buy this 'Cup Final' stuff. I don't see Leeds as a cup final at all in fact, it's just another game. In fact, given the choice, I would rather take points off a lower half of the table side as it would most likely have a bigger bearing at the end of the season.

I was referring to Chris Kamara, think he's something to do with the panel that selects this type of stuff. He doesn't like the South, for some reason.

Shows some people really, really don't know how to run a football team! £37,000 per week for a player like Johnson? No wonder Leeds got fooked over and pushed down the leagues! Kinda want Leeds to get in the Championship, don't hate them totally as it was one guy that messed them up and now he's gone.... even if Father Christmas is there and really don't like him! Hope that the Manager of the Month award won't affect Leeds this weekend home to Luton seeing as it's one of my picks in TC!

I am a Leeds Supporter and I agree with u M8, I dont think all the teams play us like its there cup final, We're not the Team we once were but we will be again.

I think Wise got it cause of being unbeaten and the fact that the squad was put together a week b4 the season started
