| Leeds 4-1 Southend Leeds scored three late goals to win their third straight game. Alan Thompson opened the scoring with a free-kick but Adam Barrett equalised for Southend with a header after Matt Harrold's shot had been parried. Leeds took the lead again after 85 minutes when Tore Andre Flo struck from 12 yards and Rui Marques then converted a corner from Sebastien Carole. Jermaine Beckford then capped a fine performance with an 18-yard volley after a long pass from Tresor Kandol. Leeds: Ankergren, Richardson, Marques, Heath, Hughes (Parker 72), Prutton (Flo 79), Douglas, Thompson, Westlake (Carole 42), Kandol, Beckford. Subs Not Used: Howson, Weston.

| Leeds complete Clapham loan Leeds United have completed the loan signing of Wolves defender Jamie Clapham and he is set to make his debut at Nottingham Forest on Saturday. The 31-year old full-back is now contracted to Elland Road until 30 September. Clapham was unable to sign in time to feature in Leeds' 4-1 League One home win over Southend on Saturday, but he has trained with his new team-mates. The former Tottenham, Ipswich and Birmingham player insists the 15-point deduction Leeds incurred for going into administration during the pre-season was not an off-putting factor in his move. "I'm here to play football for the next five weeks and I'm looking forward to it," Clapham told Leeds' official website. "At the moment it's 15 points off the top, and hopefully by the end of September we'll be in the positives points-wise." Seems this is the short term solution - he must have his eye on someone for the longer term though. ![]()

| An SPL captain to a League 1 side?! Surely not?! Would be a good acqusition though! Oh, looks who's writing a book . . . Ridsdale's Leeds United book profits go to charity ![]() View Gallery By Paul Robinson FORMER Leeds United chairman Peter Ridsdale is donating all the money he makes from his controversial new book to charity. Ridsdale's decision to tell the story of his turbulent six-year reign at Elland Road has sparked accusations from fans that he is cashing in on United's disastrous decline. The YEP understands, however, that every penny the ex-Leeds chief receives in royalties or upfront payments from the book is going to St Gemma's Hospice in Moortown. The sum handed over to the hospice is likely to run into tens of thousands of pounds. A source close to Ridsdale said: "Peter thinks he's got every right to give his side of the story. He hasn't in full detail until now. "But he also recognises that a lot of Leeds fans might take the view that he shouldn't profit from the club's demise. "By making this donation to the hospice, he hopes the supporters might at least give him a fair hearing." Due out in November and published by Pan Macmillan, the lifelong Leeds fan's book is entitled United We Fall: Boardroom Truths About The Beautiful Game. In it, he describes how the Whites attempted to "live the dream" by splashing out millions of pounds on players such as Rio Ferdinand – but ended up £80m in debt. He also looks back on the courtroom trials of Leeds stars Lee Bowyer and Jonathan Woodgate and the deaths of United fans Chris Loftus and Kevin Speight in Turkey. The book has been co-written with Steve Dennis, the Yorkshire-born journalist who penned the memoirs of Princess Diana's former butler, Paul Burrell. A spokeswoman for St Gemma's said today: "We are thrilled that Peter Ridsdale is helping us out in this way." Ridsdale, who quit as Leeds chairman in 2003 and is now in charge at Cardiff City, was unavailable for comment.

| I once read a hooligan book where the Leeds fans could only praise Ridsdale because when those stabbed in Turkey needed surgery/hospital treatment etc he paid for it on his credit card and did all he could for those out there. He sounded like a real gent and decent bloke. After all the stuff came out about him fleecing the club, the goldfish stories and sky high wages I couldn't help but think it would be the club that covered the cost really and not him. Would be very interested to find out too.
