lol ok, I LIVE IN BRADFORD! for 5 years out of my 36 on the earth. born in leeds, went to school in leeds, my 2 kids were born in leeds, my mrs was born in leeds, my mum was born in leeds, my dad was born in leeds, my sister was born in leeds, my brother was born in leeds, my dog was born in leeds. and i go watch football/rugby and cricket in leeds!

my decision to move to bradford was to do with work, and at the time you could get a brand new house for £150k! when all i could buy in leeds was an ex council(in a decent area anyway).

well hopefully soon i will be able to afford to move back to leeds! but thats by the by.but thanks for pointing out that i live in bd. i haven't been reminded 500 times since i moved here already!

i presume from the previous posts that when you move over a city boundary that you hand all your home town footy tops in and swap em for the new towns?

crackers the lot of ya! but i loves ya all

That's just for the cockneys that decide they're going to be Man Utd fans.

Just wondered why anyone would want to move in to a town full of pound shops, take aways and mosques and not out of it.

Do they lose 10 points???????, if so do it now, and lose 10 points this season instead of next.

Just past Odsal, near Tescos. Pretty quiet here but go anywhere near Manningham, Lidget Green etc and it's like Basra.

It is an agreement where you pay a % of your debts back but the club can continue to operate. They might pay back 10p in the £, its a no win situation for those owed money. Either accept the agreement or get nothing usually. Our CVA was disgusting, owed money to St Johns Ambulance, a voluntary service and screwed them over too and now can't get any investors due to how they were previously treated.

Easy way out now for many teams, go all out for promotion, if you fail just go into administration, clear your debts and start again. I think Leeds are trying to get round a 10pt deduction next season but have to go into administration before the end of the week for -10pts this season rather than next. Very sly but very clever if it works for them. Not sure of rules and implications etc and if -10pts would have to be next season.

Leeds veteran Kelly set to retire

Kelly won 51 caps for the Republic of Ireland

Leeds United stalwart Gary Kelly is to retire at the end of the season.

Kelly, 32, has spent his entire career at Elland Road and has played 531 games for the club after making his debut in the title-winning season of 1991/92.

The former Republic of Ireland defender was also in the Leeds side that reached the 2001 Champions League semi-finals.

He will hang up his boots after Sunday's game with Derby - which, barring a mathematical miracle, will see Leeds relegated to League One.

Leeds will go down for the second time in three seasons unless they score a hatful of goals to beat Derby and Hull City lose at home to Plymouth.
Kelly was presented with a crystal-cut vase after Saturday's draw with Ipswich to mark his 16 years with the club.

He has not made a first-team appearance for Leeds since November 2006.

Its not all about love for Leeds with him though is it? Does he not get like 500k for staying through his contract or something similar?

Another black page in the book:

Leeds Utd calls in administrators

Leeds United is widely expected to be relegated at the weekend

Former Premiership football club Leeds United has called in administrators.
It will mean United are docked 10 league points, but it is not clear if that would happen this season or next.
The news comes just hours after the Leeds United Supporters Trust told the club it was in a position to make a serious proposal to buy the club.
Leeds has been struggling with its finances in recent years and relegation from the Championship will certainly eat into earnings for the coming year.
In recent years the club has sold its Elland Road home ground and its Thorp Arch training ground to cover previous cash shortfalls.
The fact that contracts for a number of high-price players run out this summer also means that the club will run short of valuable assets later this year.
Uncertainty
By entering administration the club can be held together while plans are put in place to restructure or sell it.
Experts predict that by making such a move, the club would be able to get rid of some of its debts.
Leeds would then be a more attractive investment and takeover target because any new owner would not have to take on its entire debt burden.
Under League rules, introduced in 2003, teams are deducted 10 points if they enter administration. Wrexham was the last club to befall such a fate in the 2004/5 season.
By taking the decision to go into administration during the current season, Leeds could have 10 points deducted now while the team is still in the Championship, rather than when it started next season in League One.
Should the penalty be held over, it would mean that the club started next season with a points tally of minus 10, a deduction that could seriously damage its prospects and could leave it in trouble for the rest of the 2007/8 season. Leeds' chairman Ken Bates has been working hard to attract new investment to the club, but has so far had little success. As well as the supporter's club, Leeds defender Gary Kelly has also been linked to a possible Irish takeover bid for the club

Surely the points deduction has to come next season to deter clubs from doing this.....leeds have waited and waited and as their almost certainly down now they go ahead and do it, hoping to get away with it, as a points deduction has no meaning now

"Leeds United's appointed administrators KPMG have agreed to sell the business and its assets to a newly formed company called Leeds United Football Club Limited, the directors of which are Ken Bates, Shaun Harvey and Mark Taylor"

Didn't Bates pull a similar stunt at Chelsea? Basically the new company gets all the assets, and the old company gets all the debts and is declared bankrupt.

Sounds great, but the some of the main losers are legitimate businesses.

Is that a way out of getting 10 points deducted for going into administration, or have they done it to get the 10 point reduction for this season?

Yes, Bates setting up a new company, the old company bankrupt so to my limited knowledge the creditors get nothing. What a farce & stitch up.

It's a disgrace, little doubt about that but the biggest disgrace has to be Leeds getting the same punishment as Wrexham and Rotherham. That's all wrong, completely wrong.

Lord Mawhinney, Leeds are taking the piss out of you and your company. Instead of pratting about looking for penalty shootouts for draws and other pointless ideas for once in your life get some bollocks and stand up to them.

Good fix to a short term problem but all the investors who have lost money are unlikely to ever put money into the club again. Unbelievably lucky if they swindle the -10pts for this season. They'll restart the club with a slightly new name for the business side like Leeds United FC 2007. If it's a CVA and an agreement is reached the creditors will get a small % of what they are owed. Very interesting times for the Leeds fans.

when we wnt into administration, we didnt lose 10 points although i have a feeling that rule came the year after

looks like Bates has planned this to avoid the 10 pt deduction next season

if theres a loophole, then i suppose they make the best of it.
