Default Jason Koumas to Wigan

Bit suprised by this move tbh. People are always talking about how Koumas has that bit of class and that he was probably the best player outside of the premiership. There was interest from clubs like Everton, but he ends up signing for an unknown manager for a team with little support (no offence Wigan fans).

It's a great signing for Wigan, but I can't work out why Koumas has gone there? All I'm thinking is that he's gone there with the attention of putting himself in the shop window, or am I just overating him?

Have to completely agree.
With respect to Wigan fans, I think they are nailed on for relegation and I'm surprised he hasn't gone to a bigger club. Seems a very strange move to me, but an excellent signing for Wigan.
Well done The Latics, good luck.

Always liked Koumas as a player, probably because he chose to represent the challenge that is Wales instead of several other countries that he could've.

Looks quality in the Championship but could well be like Kamara at WBA / Fulham now who hasn't proved himself at the highest level. Hopefully he will but this season does look like one of struggle.

I too like Koumas, great ability on the ball and arguably one of the best midfielders in the Championship last season. I would have liked to him at Everton, but 5.3m is a bit steap i feel. Good luck to him.

too expensive for someone who might give up half way through the season, was quality for us in the championship a year ago though. Lol to think we were gonna buy him for 2 million but wouldnt stump up the cash a year ago...

I think Koumas regards Wigan simply as a stepping stone to possibly a bigger move further down the line.

He was a rejuvenated player following the arrival of Tony Mowbray but it was only months earlier he basically went AWOL under Robson when they couldn't even get the lad in to train. He's a great talent when he puts his mind to it, make no mistake about that, but he's temperamental, he certainly likes things his own way, and at that pricetag, it's a good bit of business for Albion.

£5.3 Million now, imagine how much he'll cost in a year's time if he has a good season. Potential suitors will probably be looking at around £8m-£9m!

A cracking deal for Cardiff though. 4.5m profit on a player bought last season.
Should hopefully allow Jones to do some wheeling and a dealing but he is a big loss. Very impressive when I saw him in a Bluebird shirt.

Koumas - over-rated iMO & a bit to prove

Lee Cook at QPR is a better winger by trade but Koumas does well coming inside off the wing. If played in the right position will do well. Not sure Wigan is best place as i think they will go down this year.

Not sure why he hasnt ended up at one of the better teams, i think Everton or Blackburn would have suited him better
