Thant nob Mandaric doesnt know how good he had it with Redknapp and Smith there. Sad news for Pompey fans, i will expect a decline in form after this as by all accounts they were very popular with the players aswell.

Is the chairman related to Levy at Spurs by any chance?

As a Spurs fan I feel sorry for Pompey fans. I don't understand what this need to have a director of football is all about. Can anyone point to a British side that has had any success with it?

And how about PSV. A chance to qualify for the Champions League tonight (I hope they do so in style ) and running away with their League at the moment.

All this success follows the ditching of their director of football structure, and the ditching of their Director of Football....

.....to Spurs

Yes AK, I can`t see this going down to well with the fans. It seems Mandaric is trying to fix something that`s not broke. Redknapp and Smith are superb partnership and they encourage football to be played the way most of us like to see it. The writing has been on the wall for a while though so it`s no great surprise. This could well backfire big time on Mandaric.

all i can say is that i feel for HARRY

i idolise him for what he did with west ham and he got shafted by the board there too. mandaric has no idea what he was doing and sorry portsmouth fans but you'll be watching CCC football for quiet a while soon like my HAMMERS are doing now. we've not been the same since and we DESERVE it with our board in charge. same too for spurs.. daniel levy is an idiot and spurs will struggle while he's there.

next years COCA COLA CHAMPIONSHIP FIXTURES could see

SPURS v WEST HAM
PORTSMOUTH v LEEDS

see a trend.....?

I feel sick.

What had that c*nt done to my club?? Hes changed more managers than pairs of pants since hes been there. Luckily some have been good calls, and getting redknapp in was genius.

However, he should be committed for getting rid of the pair. I cant see one logical reason why he should. He is a real power tripper, and doesnt like thinking Harry is the more revered at the club.

If this new bloke Zajec ends up taking over, I will never forgive them. (he says as they prob go on to win the prem in two years..........yeah right)

anyone find me a decent price for relegation and i'll bite your hand off!!

all this talk of being his decision just sounds like a nice little back hander to keep him quiet.

GUTTED!!

What a shambles, i'm obviously gutted as most of you will know

I won't comment much now as much of it will be emotional right now, and probably can reflect on it tommorow or at the weekend.

Mandaric, you are a disgrace. Back stabbing cnut, although the news today dosn't suprise me, be coming for weeks, if not since the incident last season. The back stabbing cnut is a comment i won't take back in time. He should pack up an go to, i don't even care if we go down, i at least expect abit of LOYALTY in the club. I would rather be in the position of a united club, as we were before even if it means first division again, no premiership etc.

I hope Harry goes on now to live out his dream, and buy Bournemouth, and make them a success

If Zajec is made manager, i'll sell anyone on here my season ticket for a fiver if they want it.

Strachan anyone?

Its been coming for a while. For all hes done for the club I can't believe Mandaric thinks he can do better for the club than Harry and Jim .

Harry and Jim, thanks for the memories (I feel a song coming on).

(More serious comment when I've recovered, or see Pompeypunt)

not a pompy fan but redknapp is one of my favourite managers. I hope he's not retiring, the game will be a poorer place without his humour and wheeler dealing

A very sad day for Pompey fans. Personally I hope he decides to buy Forest instead of Bournemouth...

I mentioned this sort of thing in a previous thread on the12-11-2004.....So it just goes to show.....if you want breaking news call into Footie and Sports Banter......

On a serious note i cant see how this is going to be a good move with any Portsmouth supporters.....if it aint broken dont try and fix it......:o

Wasnt a big fan of Harry when he was at West Ham ( far to many dodgey foreigners signed ).....but since his move to Portsmouth along with Jim Smith he seems to have worked wonders..... i dont want to sound patronising about Portsmouth not being a big club.....but to be honest the seasonal target for a club of this size will probably be survival till the next season......Mandric doesnt seem to realise this ( or he has forgotten )....a club like Portsmouth needs a manager like Harry.....not some Johhny Foreigner who doesnt really understand the passion and support of the local people......

I fear for the club.......a sad day indeed.......

I reckon the players that are at that club are there because of Harry.

No disrespect to Pompey but they arent the biggest draw and do have big names (and egos) at fratton park.

How will the foreign legion respond to this? Will yakubu and co all hand in transfer requests. I reckon Harry was holding the whole thing together. The Hammers havent flourished since they ousted harry.

I'll miss Harry's banter "the lad can do a job" and his dodgy buys, a true Del Boy.

the quotes I've read form players seem to give the impression he was sacked/pushed before he was going to be sacked.

all along the lines of "we didn't think he'd done anything wrong" and "dont know what more the chairman could have wanted from him"
