Default Flamini to leave....

Just been reported on sky that.... AC Milan WILL sign him this week on a four year deal

If this is true this will leave a big hole in the middle of Arsenal's midfield

Hopefully it's not true

Don't see arsenal regularly but outside of this season he hasn't been amazing, pretty much just a bit part player filling in gaps when others are injured/ suspended.

So he must have been amazing this season to warrant a lot of interest from big clubs, a huge wage offer and arsenal fans gutted to see him leave ...

But i think he's easily replaceable.

Sky Sports Italia say he's going.Sod him if he wants to go there for the money it just proves he wasn't gonna stay no matter what.
Gilberto and Diaby can play that position and I'm sure Wenger will have something up his sleeve.
Just a shame Milan won and Fiorentina slipped up,otherwise he'd have enjoyed the UEFA cup.

never understood players like him, one good/mediocre season, and they hold the club to ransom.

why shouldn't he leave to join one of the biggest clubs in the world and a get massive pay rise?

it's not like he's joining west ham or a club in qatar. seems like every time a player leaves arsenal the fans cry about them being greedy whores.

if arsenal were so committed to keeping him they wouldn't have let the situation go so far.

it was a pretty dodgy transfer fee when arsenal signed him anyway so no one can complain about not getting a transfer fee for him.

I love his attitude as a player and he'll be tough to replace in that regard but he's quite limited in terms of ability. Best of luck to him.

Hardly on the moral high ground here..........

When asked about Flamini's future, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger responded: "Frankly, I don't know [if he will stay]. But if you ask me was I overall super-confident, I would say no.

"He has an offer on the table which is valid until tomorrow, then we will see. I am not confident, but also not worried. The situation is not in my hands.

"We have done what we had to do, it is now down to him to make a decision. At some stage you have to make a decision and if he goes we have to look at our options........

Sounds like Wenger as a plan

Anyone know anything about Barry and Richards coming to Arsenal

Im gutted to see him go as an arsenal fan myself , its reported he was offered £50k a week and i believe thats a cracking offer for a player such as himself , he's only had this one good season remember . But money talks ! and he could just be a bench warmer at Milan .....

Exactly, befriend a traitor, expect to be betrayed.

Milan have confirmed he has signed. Only really made his name this season, was a bit part player before that. Milan need plenty of new recruits in their aging side so I'm sure he'll be going there to feature.

I don't believe he's leaving for the money, at this stage of his carer he wants to win things

It's hard to complain too hard given the circumstances of his arrival (I was living in the south of France at the time, and the French weren't at all happy)

However, I dont understand why clubs take the risk of letting players leave on a free without sorting the contracts out before it gets to that stage - why not a generic rule in the club that if you have less than 12 months left on your contract (and are under 30), you're no longer in the first team squad and play in the reserves until you either sign a new contract or a transfer were organised - that'd soon stop players just seeing out their contracts and getting Free's

Because that fundamentaly misrepresents where the power in the relationship lies these days post bosman II. A player can walk out on his club at any point after I think two years, and pay off the balance of his wages (details of this may be wrong, but the principle is sound).

Players have the power, managers don't.

He's done nothing wrong has he? His contract has run out and he has chosen not to renew it - fair enough. Its a shame though, he's probably been the most improved player in our team this year. Thats reflected by the fact that this time last year, Birmingham and Portsmouth were interested in him but now its the likes of Milan and Juve showing an interest.

The good thing about defensive midfielders is that they are comparitively easy to replace compared to other positions so im not overly concerned.

Arseblog sums it up nicely (as usual!)

I suppose in the modern game all you can really ask of your players is that they give you 100% every time they go on the pitch and that they respect their contracts. Flamini did that on both counts. He was a trojan worker and all he did was take play the game by its rules when it came to his new contract. It’s a shame he’s leaving, I think we had the perfect combination with him and Cesc in midfield (something the manager needs to replicate for next season), but there you go. Good luck to him but life goes on.

Wenger will be seething.

However, arsenal will uncover another WORLD CLASS 15 YEAR OLD AND PLAY 'TOTAL FOOTBALL'

Then say they are on the verge of something amazing year on year for the next 8 years , while producing about 1 league, 2 league cups and 1 FA Cup.

I agree with you GAF, which is what makes me think Wenger has a plan up his sleeve ..... we all know he's a chess man and was thinking about his next move a long time ago ....

At least I hope so.....

To be fair to Flamini, I think the Italian game will suit his style better. Not so much flair but a hard working, grinding game ... coming from marseille he will also enjoy kicking a few over and watching them pirouette on the floor !
