Quite strange that a non league football club chairmen feels that he can speak for the whole of non league football.

There are plenty of clubs that do not aspire to follow in FCUMs footsteps. Many clubs know their limitations and know that playing at a level that is unsustainable would ruin them. Certainly Hucknall would never cope with playing above Unibond or conference north level as we would never have the fan base to to provide the money to attract the players that would be required.

Good luck to FCUM, but (as mentioned in my 1st post) it is that sort of arrogance that I really dislike. Granted it was not a statement that was made by your club, but you still assume that we all want to be like you.........

We dont, really we dont..... I made a concious decision to watch football at this level as I had had enough of the way I was being treated by Forest and proffessional football in general (which for me lost it's appeal roundabout 1996 with the introduction of the neuvo fan). I can honestly say that if Hucknall had a run of success that took them into the league, I would stop watching them.

That is a very good and well thought out response.

Best of luck for the forth coming season, I genuinely mean that. I also genuinely hope that once all this success drys up, which it will once you find your level, that your fans stick with the club. It is easy to follow a club that walks leagues season upon season, it is less easy going to places like Eastwood, Solihull or Blyth when you are a medicore mid table team.

Introduce yourself at Watnall Road (unless we get a reprieve from the demise of Halifax) and I will buy you a pint.

Allah, I hope hucknall are not saved from relegation by the demise of halifax

1. because I hate to see any club go bust
2. cos we are planning for a season in the Unibond (manager, players etc)
3. cos we will not get humped every week in the Unibond
4. I am looking forward to some cracking away days
5. how will we cope without the financial boost that FCUM give us little clubs?

The bad news is that it looks like Halifax will be relegated to the Unibond Prem with the possibility of Nuneaton and Boston joining them. That league looks like it could be a good one next season.

Stodin,

Don't you think that the attitude shown by you in this thread smacks of inverted snobbery?

Regardless of the perceived arrogance, when you look at why FCUM were formed and the aims I really hope they manage to work their way up the pyramid.
Quote:

I agree with you there and don't deny it, although there have been hundred's of football clubs formed out of disagreements and protest to an existing club (at different levels).

FCUM want to give Man Utd fans dissatisfied with their club (as an organisation) a viable real alternative, rather than choosing a local team. You felt the same way about Forest and decided to choose Hucknall Town and fair play to you. I have a massive soft spot for Newcastle Town and Stafford Rangers but I doubt I could give up the Vale for them under any circumstances.

IF they had taken over the running of Leigh, surely people could claim that too would be arrogant (more so in my opinion), and that if they really wanted to build a club then they should start at the bottom of the pyramid like everyone else (and MK Dons should have done?).

Personally I think that its a case of history revisited and am interested to see just where FCUM 'settle'.

It is quite interesting to see where they will find their level, but would people want to keep going to a football club that would only have ambitions of 3rd division football for their entirity.
If the club wants to progress from there they will have to raise ticket prices in order to progress the club forward i.e buying players, insurance payments, ground costs, policing and other such expenses that go with a top club.
It will then all go round in one big circle and end up with ticket prices not far off from what Man Utd now charge. It can only ever be a "catch 22" situation.
