| He did it playing for Liverpool when he spat on a Celtic fan and yet again this player has felt it necessary to empty the contents of his mouth, this time over the face of Portsmouths Aryan De Zueww. What a complete and utter filthy ba5tard. What a vile and despicable act, theres nothing worse. This cnut should be banned for a considerable amount of time imho I respect Big Sam who says he`ll look at the footage and deal with the matter internally so I just hope he makes one hell of an example of that low life. ![]()

In Pub football he'd get about 84 days, and that's still far too short for a despicable act of this nature. Not seen the incident but anything like this has got to be stamped on.

on the bright side the way that de Zeeuw dealt with it was a breath of fresh air. If i ever see that man in a pub i'll buy him a pint for putting a bit of dignity back into football. ![]()

| Paul, I meant to mention De Zeeuw last night and how superbly he dealt with it at the time. He showed fantastic restraint when it would have been very easy to have given Diouf a clout. I`ve just heard that Bolton have fined him the maximum 2 weeks wages. Fair enough, the club have done what they can, but I wish the powers that be would get involved and dish out a severe ban. Financial punishment is no punishment really with what players earn nowadays.

I'd rather be spat on than have someone lunge at me two footed with their studs showing to be honest. Unless it was a big ol' greener, in which case, I'd be furious. Why is spitting on someone worse than nutting them, or punching them, or stamping on them, or elbowing? Just wondering. I'm not saying spitting on folk is ok btw. It's pretty childish imo but a wee bit of saliva never hurt anyone. It's a sign of affection in some countries...... probably.

What if he had picked his nose and flicked the snotter at someone? Isn't that as bad as spitting? Just asking. Is farting on someone worse than elbowing you think?

@ Mickey.Flicking a greeny would be original. Players must have farted on the pitch a few times. Imagine being man marked all afternoon and being able to let rip some real pungent stinkers? ![]()

I raise some serious points and you laugh! I honestly have been wondering to myself why spitting always provokes such a strong reaction. I'm a bit of a spitter you see as I find smoking a cigarette really fills my mouth with excess saliva for some reason. People always shout 'that's disgusting' or 'filthy habit' when I spit so it seemed fair to compare it to nose picking or farting. I'd rather be farted on than elbowed any day!

I was just looking into saliva and the spread of disease there Paul but hadn't seen mention of TB. I guess catching TB is worse than having your shirt pulled, arguably. I noticed you could also catch mumps from saliva and having suffered the old fat cheeks disease (Gett1nitus to give it it's medical name) as a child, I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Although I've already confessed to being a spitter, I would like to make clear that I do not spit at people, either living or dead, although I reserve the right to spit at burglars, beggars, inquisitive children etc.

That one tickled me too Jay. Surprised 'nipple tweaking' and 'underpant elastic twanging' weren't on the list though. The game must have cleaned up it's act since I played.
