CM 03-04 MANAGER STYLE

I am currently Dunfermline in SPL and in 2010 now and ive been in CL every year since i starled but extended the ground from 12000 to 22000 which has cost quite a lot,for the first 5 seasons i have been gung ho (Keegan style) just full on attacking scoring over 100 goals a season but conceeding a @#%$ load aswell,a lot of 3-2,4-3 results etc!

I won the spl once in the second season and have been getting 3rd place cl qualifier mostly since then cause scotland now has 3 cl places cause of co efficent ranking !

I started this season with £20 million in the bank and decided i needed to stop shipping so many goals because i had only just been scraping 3rd place,first 4 games lost 3 drew 1,then played 6 since and won them all without conceeding any,I am now in the Houllier Ultra Defensive mode !

I am doing shite in this version as opposed to the old ones where I was pretty good :o

Dont know if anyone else has the same problem, but i brought the new copy of this about 6 months ago and it just seem to take forever to play just seems so slow. i know half of the problem must be the speed of me pc but is there anyway of speeding it up???

it was low when i first got it but i learned a few tricks to speed it up immensely and i mean immensely !

1.

Disable all virus checkers,anti norton etc,they check every file that is being processed on the system and will slow your game imo by at least 50%

2.

When you start the game check the database size,Small is too small with not enough players,medium is fine though and has easily enough,if you go large you have something like 10 times the amount of players as a small data base there for make it run at snail pace.

3.The amount of leagues,i find it's best at most having 4 divisions - for example,i run english EPL AND div 1 on its own usually,for the superfast game just run EPL.in my scottish game at the moment im running SCOT SPL/DIV AND ENG /EPL/DIV1.

4.This another quite important one !

When you start the game you get the option of ticking the FULL DETAIL BOX,not a lot of people even know what this means,basically its so you can see all goals (2d view movies) and match reports from all the other games in the history which your not involved in.I don't ever go looking at other matches highlights with the 2d view so really you should leave this unticked.

So a sumamry

Turn off virus checkers-Medium database-1 to 4 divs MAX(2 max if possible) - Do not tick full detail.

I had all them with just EPL and im not joking the game was instant !

I like epl with the divisions below though so i can see what happens to former great clubs !

I'm might give this game another go. To be honest there is so much in it now I think it has taken some of the playability away.

I loved the CM 00/01 game. I don't like this one as much.

CM97/98 is the best game ever. That was superseded by Champ Man 3 which, along with every version since, has been totally unplayable IMHO.

cheers for the speed tips tosh. I reckon CM3 and its variants were the best version, champ man 4 was just shite really imo. Havn't really looked at this update for it yet

Mind you I was fcuking gutted they put a 2d match view in, I know you can turn it off but they should just have left it commentary only

I'm a big fan of the 2d match engine to be honest, It gives a great idea of how the team is playing, there's no way I could ever go to the comentory only version

Have not got any Manager games for the PC, seem to remember having CM 98 on the Playstation, been in my local supermarket this lunchtime and they are selling CM 00/01 for £3.99 - is it worth a go?
I don't tend to buy new games - still playing PGA Tour III on the Megadrive - a classic if ever there was one.

2damn.. I never played III but was highly addicted to PGA Tour II on the mega drive, So was my missus, we used to spend all night on it, I once spent a straight 19 hour session on it.
The graphics wasn't of the same quality as todays games but game play still hasn't been beat in any other Golfing game i've seen or played.

I've never played any Champ' Man, only because i fear the same addiction.

00/01 is a top notch version mate, def worth 3.99 be prepared to find yourself awake at 5.45am cursing your star striker who just missed an open goal in the CL final tho

Yeh fools gold, I think opinion was split pretty much down the middle over the text commentary thing. It was just I got used to kind of imagining the match in my head from the commentary and it got to the stage I was into it so much I was swearing at my players at full volume in my bedroom . The 2d engine kind of took that away a bit I felt so I have it switched off in the new version, plenty of people seem to like it tho whats everyone elses view?
