This is a big game for Chop Souey. A good win for Rovers and he could be out, an entertaining draw or a loss for Rovers could keep the firey one in a job for another week or two.

Looking at the midfield that Newcastle are likely to play, Faye, Bowyer, Clarke and N'zogbia I can't see too much being created for the Shearer/Owen partnership to feed on. Savage should hopefully be able to snuff out the threat that Bowyer causes and the rest of their midfield is average at best.

Hopefully Rovers will be welcoming back Bellamy and playing Bentley from the start, and if this is the case I can see us scoring a couple against the kind of defence we were all too familiar with during the last couple of seasons that the excuse-making Scottish manager spent at Rovers.

I fear though that hughes will choose to err on the side of caution, leaving Bellamy out and starting with Bentley on the bench. This is likely produce the kind of entertaining stalemate we saw at the Breezeblock last week with neither side creating much and the most likely source of entertainment a fight between Lilly and Bowyer.

I really can't see Shearer scoring in this one (obviously he will now I have said that), he's too old and should have retired last year. He's still a great though and I believe he should get one last good reception at Ewood.

So come on Hughesy, let's have a real go at them while they are in a crisis of confidence. Dare I say two up front, Shefki and Bellas and play Bentley in the hole behind them. Lilly, Emerton and Pederson across the middle and Neil, Nelsen, Zurab and Matteo across the back.

Let's do the Toon Army a favour, stuff Newcastle 3-0 and send Souness back to Scotland without a job. If they hang onto him for another couple of months they'll be so far adrift at the bottom of the table a new manager wouldn't have enough time to sort it out.
