| Right kiddies time to put the toys back in the pram, If you had put any set of fans in that situation with the big screens going down you would have had trouble be it Scottish, English, Italian, Spanish or Welsh... Beer plus football plus male ego will always = trouble!! Accept it and move on...... Not saying its right but $hit happens and if Celtic fans had been in that situation it would have been the same result..... |

It's an arguement, people disagree. Sure it gets heated at times. However no one is getting banned, not gonna happen. Frankly we're miles away from anything that looks like a banning offence. It's in a banter forum it's designed to vent a bit of steam and keep this away from the betting forums. Alex made a mistake under pressure with SB, it was quickly rolled back. Just because someones name is written in dark blue doesn't mean their opinions are words carry any more weight than anyone elses. Flip side of that is that they shouldn't feel they can't post an opinion either. People are members first and mods second. The perception that mods always stick together isn't true, as an example from this thread. Gazza objected to the comment about cops getting a kicking, that comment came from PaulM03 a very long standing mod, yet people ignore that.

On that note fair play to all the Rangers fans who attended Celtic Park over the last few days to pay their respects to Tommy Burns. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0vJ_...d.php?t=426057 Found this video very hard to watch, something about the song, coupled with the pictures that really hits home ![]()

Costs for the fans are just stupid in terms of hotels and flights, SAF was talking about this the other day. It's a total rort.

I hear what your saying but disagree, not being able to drink and socialize properly would take away from the occasion for many. I was in Barcelona for Celtic's last 16 match this year and the fanzone was excellent, rather than just having everyone scattered over pubs in Las Ramblas and other parts of a large city it was a meet up point where you could arrange to meet mates before you went. The council also provided us with loads of massive bin bags to clean up our rubbish as well, self policing is the most effective IMO, urinals etc set up aswell. The whole thing was excellent and was big enough to fit everyone, so I don't think banning drink is the answer, it can be done and done well. Also with the UEFA Cup final in Glasgow last year i thoroughly enjoyed myself with Sevilla fans and still find myself humming along to some of their songs.

I'm not calling for a total ban everywhere but if there's an area set aside for a big screen then that should be alcohol free . Listened to Real radio phone-in and it seems most if not all pubs in the vacinity of the ground and big-screen zones were ordered to shut at 14:00 With hindsight the main problem, imo, was that Manchester was TOO close for the neds and arseholes to get to . If it was held abroad then i think you'd find the majority of that element would not be there . I may be contradicted but up to the final RANGERS away support had a relatively good record this season ? and i think you'd find they were regular supporters not the hangers-on .

I don't think the areas where the big screens are should necessarily be alcahol free either, i see where your coming from but it starts to become pretty unenjoyable taking away things like that. Your right it being 3 hours down the road was a disaster in terms of the volume of fans who only needed to take 1 day off work and cheapness in getting there. As far as i know they were ok apart from in Barcelona where they were not received well at all by the locals and police authorities for creating such a mess, pissing in fountains etc as the repurcussions carried over to when Celtic were there which is why the council laid out bin bags and urinals in the fanzones etc and the fountains were covered up. Btw, why was MJB20_2008 banned ![]() He didn't do anything wrong ?

starting to think some people were going "power" crazy ![]() what alex done was out of line, but its dealt with MOVE ON. big gaz is a cool enough guy, but yeah sometimes he gets a bit heavy, just gotta deal with it, is sound enough ![]() ![]() what you have to bear in mind is mods are there to control forums, not rule them. I work for betfair (only part time tho ) and if I went about blocking every account that disagreed with me, I'd get a warning within about 2 blockings, or 5 minutes . bottom line people - its just not worth it, they arent against us, they dont want us to leave, they just dont want this place turning into an argumentative mess. thanks. ![]() ![]()

| On the whole subject of the coppers getting a kicking the other night I can see where some people are coming from as you base your opinion on something/someone based on experience and if the police you have experience of have been heavy handed or complete arseholes I don't expect you to have much sympathy for a few getting beaten by Rangers fans. What hasn't been picked up though is that these arseholes in uniforms/heavy handed coppers are a MINORITY just the same way the hooligan element is a MINORITY. When I worked in the police I can honestly say most of the people I worked with were spot on, they could use their mouths to communicate rather than just relying on a baton and CS spray but there were a few pricks too. I'm sure Gazza and Staffy will be able to recognise there are some people that work with them that are almost thuggish and incompetent (usually firearms and public order officers) but they are the minority. There are lots of new officers in their early twenties just starting in the police, straight out of uni, academically fantastic, know every aspect of the law but have no common sense, no communication skills and just don't know how to speak to people properly, and many with a massive fcuking chip on their shoulder. Same thing happens to all the police then as what happened to the Rangers fans, all get tarred with the same brush, police brutality, thugs in uniforms etc etc. Interesting that it was also GMP police the other night. When I was at training school in Durham loads of others were at training school in Warrington and GMP were known as GIMP, they were getting suspended left right and centre and many didn't make it through training school as they had been sacked due to disciplinary issues. Maybe they need to sort out their recruiting process too. I had one PC from GMP threaten to arrest me at Oldham away for moving my car forward a matter of inches while trying to get out of the car park, attitude problem and complete prick. Also got pulled at Kirkstall by a trainee with a big mouth and a bad attitude and would have loved to give the cnut a kicking myself. There will always be one bad apple in a team or shift, it's up to their sergeants and inspectors to get rid. It will be just typical that the officers being heavy handed will be fine and the ones that do their job properly will be the ones that get the kicking. I know from meeting Gazza and Staffy that they are more than competent of doing their job and would feel quite sickened if one of them was getting a kicking like the other night. I can see how Gazza has got annoyed at certain comments but those opinions have been based on bad experiences with police, it's unfair to judge a whole force on the actions of a few idiots. I think PaulM made a comment about how they are ok when they are bashing protesters and I know some who were going to the G8 thing a few years ago who couldn't wait to do just that.

Want to provide some examples? Why is PL so popular and grows faster than any betting forum out there then? The reason being we do things the right way, we won't allow children on here and yes I will ban the fcukers without blinking if they are to here to cause trouble and that only.
