Why is there so much hatred between supporters in football and yet you don't see it in any other sport. I know it could purely be the numbers as it is undoubtebly the biggest and most high profile game in the World, but other sports have huge numbers of supporters but the hatred or yobbishness simply isn't there.

I think the players need to take a long hard look at themselves.... lets be honest, when a player would rather play for their club than their country then there is a problem.

It's history mate , all Scotlands Wars have been against England .

This is taught in schools , just as Englands wars v France is .

Hence , since we're now all civilised we and don't kill each other ,
[so far ] we transfer it onto the sporting field .

The majority see it as a wind-up , a few go too far , some don't give a feck.

Its not the english we hate. Yes some of their fans have a bad reputation because of their past but they have shown at the past few tournaments of being able to go to tournaments and support their team. Its your media we cant stand, they drive us up the bloody wall when it comes to them in a major tournament. You would think they have some God given right to win every tournament the way they go on sometimes. The likes of Ian Wright are always great to watch looking miserable after England get beat, the way he builds them up pre tournament as if theres no other team in with a shout only to get brought back to earth when they get ko'd is always nice to see. I actually like the England team, some quality players in that side but have been like Spain in recent times, have by far underperformed with regards to the potential of that squad of players. Should be going further than QF's in my opinion. McLaren should never get near another football job again after failing to qualify with the squad he had at his disposal, and thats taking nothing away from the likes of Croatia who earned their place with some great football on that night at Wembley.

Like I remember the last world cup all through the build up we had to put up with those stupid "BELIEVE" Mars adverts ON SCOTTISH TELEVISION!! I work part time in a supermarket and we had to stock the "Believe" bars and have their advertising bs around the store. To say I was unhappy about it would be kind. No wonder we ended up wanting to see you get pumped. It's stuff like that which makes us want you to get knocked out of these tourney's early

I actually believe England to be very overrated on the whole. I have seen nothing from there that makes them close to being 'world class' in the past 3 or 4 years to be honest.

Our team doesn't look good on paper (Scotland) but with The Tartan Army behind us every game and the way the players really fought for the jersey throughout Euro 2008 was a joy to watch.

I would agree with this, however I think on an individual basis, England have some of the best players in the world, Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard, Ferdinand, Terry etc etc, what they miss tho is the togetherness and fight that we Scots possess, I LOVE watching Scotland play every game, and I am going to be sure to be going to every WC qualifier I can.

I think the media hype England up too much and that's why the Celts don't mind seeing them fall on their arse in the major tournaments. I loved the England team of 1990 and was gutted to see them get knocked out.

That could easily have been Staffy or myself. They were not the officers who organised how many police were on duty or how many should be deployed here or there, they are ordinary working police officers who take orders from officers in their comfy chairs out of touch with reality.

The officers who were injured probably have familys and kids, they are ordianary people doing a difficult job. How would you explain to your familys why you have come home from work with a broken arm ? You be careful with that next sheaf of A4 paper for the photocopier, you may have to go home and explain to the wife and kids how you got those nasty paper cuts after being "chased" by 40 or 50 free falling sheets of paper.

Unfortuantly they wont get away with beating them up for no reason, as their 'human rights' will have been breeched etc etc, but I think if they did start being a bit more heavy handed (on the idiots who are acting in an idiotic manner of course) then it may deter future culprits who think they are going to get away without a beating.

Nobody in England believes we have the devine right to win any tournament, far from it.

However, as individual players go, we have plenty of talent and the potential to be a great team, but right now, we're very average I admit.
