Default Arrests after football disorder

Matt - Anything to do with you???

Thirteen football fans were arrested as trouble broke out after Leicester's home tie with Norwich.

Officers were called to reports of fighting between rival groups of supporters at Loseby Lane on Saturday. Some men sustained minor injuries.

A police spokesperson said nearby buildings were also vandalised by fans who were throwing objects around.

Supt Chris Rollings said a full investigation was under way. The Foxes won the Championship fixture 4-0.

'Stamp out disorder'
"We believe a number of fans left the football ground early and made their way into the city centre.

"My officers responded quickly to the incident and a short while later a number of people were arrested.

"The majority of fans are law-abiding and peaceful and just want to enjoy the match and support their team and we are determined to stamp out disorder such as this, caused by a small minority, said Supt Rollings.
Officers have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Ever since 1993 (I think) when we played Newcastle at home, we needed to win to get in the play offs and they needed to win to go up....they must have brought 15,000 away fans down and the town was utter chaos that day, the game ended up being abandoned 5 mins from the end with Newcastle leading 2-1 as there were literally so many people scrapping on the pitch you couldnt see the grass....I remember watching it from the main stand as I was only 11 at the time.

I remember the papers for weeks after, hundreds were charged, people were treated for thier eyes being gouged out, I remember seeing one group of lads charging down the street with half a lampost being carried between, how the **** they got that out the road ill never know.

A lot of its been forgotten but it still rears up every now and then we meet.

Saturday was crazy, I never even knew Norwich had that element of support that were up for a ruck, I did a bit suspicious when they sold thier 3,500 allocation when they usually bring about 600

Bit of a mountain out of a molehill with the Beeb reporting it though, I'm sure worse that went on round the country at the weekend..

Norwich always bring decent away support, they average over 23000 at home & they always bring at least 2500 to Loftus Road. They do like a scrap as do Ipswich. In fact who doesnt in the championship as it kicks off every week at home games outside.

Funny though, when we played Chelsea in the cup the other week, we took 6000 plus 1000 estimated turned up without tickets & people were writing into the Evening standard saying its the worst trouble they have seen for years at the Bridge.

erm, west Ham / Spurs have you gone soft ?

Never really have here......although thinking about it the last few times we have played them it was a meaningless game last season and then a couple of tuesday nights.....

Ipswich yeah...they always seem up for a bit but ive never seeen Norwich at it.

Chelsea have gone softer than sponge lately, 6,000 if us down there for the carling cup game, fulham broadway got turned upside down and not a squeek from Chelsea

thats the problem, i think they are there for both. I personally go to watch my team & have done for 35 years now man & boy. I have taken my kids on numerous occasions. What surprises me sometimes is that I know the faces down there (not by name but by sight & they know my face) this is due to the fact these guys have also been going for 35 years +. If they choose to be involved in the hooliganism that plagues our greatest sport then thats thier business i suppose but although i dont agree with the violence, it has become a part of growing up with football since the 70's.

If my old man saw what i did when i was going on my own with my mates at 15/16yo, he would have stopped me going for sure.

My take on it, is if you look for it, it finds you. There are those unlucky ones who get caught up in it, but predominantly, these are organised fights between two sets of hooligans. The good thing is that it is now eradicated from inside the grounds.

I must admit, the last season we had in the championship it kicked off alot more then it has in the last 3 seasons (remember Leicester, Wolves, Cardiff - must be a lot more that season)...
