Everytime I tried to join in accepting the invite it comes up with the error message, unable to connect to host? but yet I can play online as normal.
I even tried to setup my own map and invited all 3 of you.
I'll have another go after Ive watched LOST.

Cheers for the game! Was good to get a few different ones in. So used to playing Headquarters that Domination and Team Deathmatch are almost alien concepts!

Still think we all played ok, I took a first place and second place in the games. So was just that last outside domination in the level with the greenhouse that I was struggling in when I was shot to pieces for fun! Ended up with 12 kills or something but only because I kept running, straight at the base and then getting gunned back but occasionally getting a kill off.

Think I stole one of the bases off you one time Gaz? I saw someone standing there to stood next to the flag too and it gave me the points! Still ended up with enough kills and conquered flags to hit that top spot.

Have to get some games in again soon, I'm off to do a bit more DMC4 for now.

Oh and Carl, I kept rejecting the invites because I didn't know what the problem was. Figured that no point being split behind groups and obviously didn't realise you were trying to invite everyone.

Activision and Infinity Ward report that new global conflicts are planned in the form of downloadable multiplayer maps for the award-winning Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. In development for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the upcoming downloadable content will thrust gamers into a hot zone of added combat across a variety of intense multiplayer locales.

"We've demonstrated our commitment to delivering the best multiplayer experience in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and that continues with our plans for new downloadable content," explains Infinity Ward's Community Manager, Robert Bowling aka Fourzerotwo. "We're excited about the new maps, and the added gameplay variety, and we can't wait to wrap things up and get online with everyone."

The new downloadable content is scheduled for release this spring, and will be available on Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network.

It's a bit of a flaw for me in COD4 - the "punishment" for death isn't high enough, meaning people aren't bothered enough about survival.....

My stats were something like 12 kills and 1 death on the cargo ship? and I lost to someone with 14 kills and 27 deaths .... that's not right!! I'd much rather see the rankings as net kills..... Might have to start playing the one without reincarnation a little instead

Didn't enjoy you sneaking up behind me and knifing me though

Totally agree with this, it should be your K/D ratio and not score

Problem is that that encourages people to just hide away and take out passers by. What would be the reasoning for one on one battle conflicts? People who managed to get 3 kills because they were hidden all game but were never killed would finish above someone who killed 16, died 14 times because they were very much in the heat of the battle.

Think you need some kind of middle ground if you're going to go using K/D ratios to decide the winners.

I think it should be KD ratio, so we have 16 men all sniping, so what at least it makes you make the first mistake and get nailed.

Just running around killing to be killed it like the old Team Fortress game where you would spawn 2secs after getting killed. Mindless.

As a player you should protect your self to being killed and kill as many as you can.

3 kills and 1 death should be 2 pts imho.

COD is very tatics oriented(sp?) claymores and C4 etc which is better than 20 ppl running around shooting at everything that moves.

BTW has anyone tried the top level

Staying alive IS rewarded though with the perks such as UAV, Air Strike and the Helicopter. Those encourage you to stay alive and keep killing others. Additionally those bonuses enable you to pick up extra kills whether that is through knowing an enemies location or letting the airstrike or helicopter strike its way through an opponents numbers.

That's not to totally encourage mindless killings but generally from my experience, you do a lot better being a bit cautious anyhows. If you run straight in, you're more than likely to get picked off by a sniper who has his sights on the very part of a building or land that you're running in to. Additionally there is no defensive cover offered by buildings or land so you leave yourself totally vulnerable. Sometimes too with modes like Headquarters, there is no option but to run towards the base. Sure you have to pick up kills but beat the enemy to the base or they secure a useful 15 points plus any additional points gained through holding the base.

Another factor in the not having k/d is headquarters itself, in that the team defending the base does not respawn. That means that if you're one of the lucky players whose team gets the base, irrespective of skill levels, you will only die once during the whole time the base is held. True, this also means you only have one chance of killing people but compare that to the fact the team atacking the base get respawn after respawn, unglorious death, followed by the very next take down and their k/d ratio most likely suffers potentially due to just having a weaker team.

I think lastly that the k/d ratio would be no incentive to a new player. A new player is likely to die a lot as they have little experience of the maps, have basic weapons and perks and merely stand as fodder for the other players. If they die a lot though but learn how to kill they will be more motivated and willing to learn the game modes to keep pushing themselves further and further so they can do better and better. No real incentive in always finishing bottom because you can't stop getting killed.

Anybody up for some COD4 now on Xbox 360 Live? Just played my first game in around about a week on domination. Was leading player but sadly on the losing team. Not that I could do much more! Had a streak of 9 kills I think. Called in a helicopter which seemed to kill noone! And well secured 2 different bases at times!

So if anyone is about then let me know!

Xbox to stop making HD DVD add-on

About 300,000 of the HD DVD add-ons have been sold Microsoft has decided to stop making the HD DVD add-on for its Xbox 360 games console after Toshiba abandoned the high definition DVD format. Toshiba estimated last week that about 300,000 of the add-ons had been sold. Microsoft was one of the key backers for the HD DVD format, competing with Blu-ray, which was the format available in Sony's rival PlayStation 3 console. Microsoft said it would continue to provide warranty support for the $130 (£115 in the UK) HD DVD add-on. Last week, Toshiba said it would stop production of HD DVD players and recorders after major film studios decided to back Sony's Blu-ray format instead. Toshiba said the tipping point came last month when Warner Brothers decided to release its movies only in Blu-ray. The Xbox add-ons sold represented 30% of the one million HD DVD devices that were sold worldwide. That compares unfavourably with the 10.5 million PS3s sold by Sony, which come with a built-in Blu-ray drive.
