Just to say what I said in my thread... thought COD4 was so good that I had to create its' very own new thread! Well thought I got a bargain buying it for just £25! Think that I need that online thing but £60 for going online plus the subs is a bit much for me at this time of year! So I'll hopefully be online mid January, when I've trained up a bit too.... how the hell I'm going to keep going with my law study when I have COD4 as a distraction fook knows!!

£40 any better? http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/12781...a/all/all/hot/

Or you could just use a standard CAT5 ethernet cable if you dont mind the wires (assuming you have a router - if not, a crossover network cable onto your PC is a cheap option - but performance will be slower - might need a Network Interface Card on your PC - but they cost way under a fiver)- not expensive....

Cheers mate! At the moment I'm having to use parent's front room tv seeing as how my tv upstairs is only 50mhz... it's been good for the past, it's just that Xbox thought they were elitist and only liked tvs that had been converted to the HD side. So an Xbox 360 that ought to have cost me around £350 or so as it's Elite has forced me to also look in to buying a new tv. Anyhow long story short.. I can't have wires going in to the front room as having the Xbox there and using the tv is enough without taking the piss.

So that leads me to the decision about the £40 deal, if I can get it that price then that sounds more than reasonable. Either way I doubt the postie boys will leave their Christmas dinners just for me so likely I'll have to wait in to January for it anyhows.

I'm struggling a little to be fair to get to grips with the game but hopefully it will click in to place. I'm just not totally sure where I need to be going, where to find the 30 pieces I'm after in the first level and how when the rest of the group go ahead saying the area is clear that I end up getting shot in the back!! I thought the idea was to clear up and then move? Also what happens when you get injured? As I always start the mission again when it comes up with that message.

Thanks

Got COD4 on XBOX today £24.99 bargain, only played a couple of levels but looking awesome with great atmosphere. Also picked up Sega Rally for £22.99, excellent game, prefer so much more than Dirt, has great races challenging courses, just so much more fun, nothing better than drifting round some of the bends. Well worth picking up.

Just to let you all know that I now have my Xbox 360 Live working! My gamer tag is night shadow179. I am kinda crap with most of the online games but just play for a bit of frustrating fun! So bring in on sometime!

Where did you get COD4 for that price? All the retailers I've been to were selling it for around 35-40 quid or so.

Those kids are child prodigies!! Be interesting if in future any of these go on to rock & roll success. Can just imagine the scary guitarist from one of the bands being replayed back a clip just like one of those!

Anyhows I'm officially one of the worst players of COD4... my own tag but so sadly true! I have no idea what to do multiplayer so I just run round trying to shoot people down. I get a few kills but nothing to the country full of tombstones that is my other mark on the game. People shoot me, I don't even know where they were and I'm killed!

With Xbox Live lag on Pro Evo make it largely unplayable and with me as rubbish in Halo and COD4 as I am, starting to wonder why I invested in first place.

Ive noticed a big surge in players since Xmas on COD4, it takes a while to get a game other than free-for-all.

Best advice is get on the team death-match and just learn how to play each map, look for camping spots(places to hide and shoot not to set up a tent).
Ive got to lieutenant now and I can hold my own against most of them, had a 8 man killing spree a couple of times but ive been taught a few lessons the hard way also

just takes practise.

as for PES lag again ive been on Fifa08 matchs playing against someone online and its got that bad the whole game just freezes for a few seconds, totally unplayable but you need to keep trying to get a game where there is no lag.

Dont give up yet, failing that get 20mb broadband

I downloaded good old Sensi yesterday! When I saw it just had to! So spent good while getting reacquainted with the old buddy! The version you can download is dated back to the time when Spurs had Anderton, Sheringham and Armstrong... guessing around 1996/7. Hard to get used to it being just the one button you use in play and the fact that a lot of the players can't dribble and change direction without losing the ball! But other than that it's a good blast of retro fun! Even has the Goal Scoring Superstar Hero as it's main theme tune still!

They should, because when they wake up and switch on their 360's, Live goes all weird. Now nearly 3 weeks on, and it's happening yet again. Each and every single American should have a limit of about an hour to play on Live, then booted off for the night to make way for us all important Brits. Only then, there will not be too many Americans on to confuse the fragile and presently weak Live servers.

Of course, all of the text above is nonsense - t'was only a joke. However, in all seriousness though, if Microsoft can charge us silly amounts for downloading simplistic games that are not even bigger than a 20 min standard def video, then they should be prepared to spend silly amounts in order to get the servers fully operational ASAP when they begin to suffer problems.
I'm sorry Microsoft, but touching on almost 3 weeks of complete unreliability of your service, this is now pushing subscribers patience to breaking point, seriously. If this continues up until the month mark, then a free arcade game won't cut it imo - I think a free month should be in order. I tell you what, you have no excuses if the same happens over xmas 2008 and the beginning of 2009.....

TBH Ive not had that much of a problem with xbox live, alright Ive not been on COD4 for a couple of days (currently doing manager mode in Fifa2008) but its been connecting to the web ok.

The PS3 servers are worse, not for online gaming, but for download speeds etc but then again it is FREE

I'm getting lost in all the classic retro games right now! Latest download is Speedball 2! Played that loads last night and wow, what a game! Just shame that after a solid early winning streak, the computer suddenly woke up and started to play good!

Now the computer teams keep going for the double points tube before quickly trying to annihilate my side! I try and reverse the double and light the stars up but really I just love to score goals with some great aftertouch!

That and well also love the way the keepers come out with a diving save and take out any unfortunate players to get in their way! If only the Premiership would be like that at times!
