Default Windows Start Up Problem

Last couple of days my PC has been playing up when windows (xp) starts up and it logs me in as the default profile.
If i try to use anything within this profile the PC crashes and reboots.
The error message states "not enough memory resource to load your personal settings - now loading default profile"
If i just restart the PC straight away it seems to load ok 2nd attempt????

I hav'nt added anything new recently and i have disabled most of the programs that were loading during the start up process through Msconfig but it still seems to happen every 2 or 3 boot ups.

Any ideas ?????????????

Found this, it may help.

"Could be that the profile is corrupted. Try creating a new one and
running in that for a bit. If things work ok then copy the information
from the old corrupted profile to the new one, then delete the old"

Have a look at:
http://www.pcmech.com/article/operat...indows-2000xp/

CCleaner can clear out a lot of temporary files that clog the system. System Mechanic is far more comprehensive and can defrag drives and other key system files as well as clean up Registry. Clear out prefetch folder, remove hibernation files and switch off system restore (to clear) and back on again. Doing this within Safe Mode can be more effective.

Don't think it will be this, but I'll mention it just in case - have you installed Windows XP Service Pack 3 recently? Had startup problems myself after installing it, just got stuck in a cycle where it kept constantly rebooting (as described in the link below)

http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Desktops-an...lems-Continue/

If that is your problem, then I don't know whether there's maybe a better solution, but I ended up starting in safe mode and using system restore to go back to before I'd installed it, that worked fine.
