Default Sony Ericsson K800i, battery and charger problems

Had this phone since late August. The charger has been crap since day one for me, had to fiddle about with it to get it charging. Is there any way to cure this?

Also the phones battery life can range from awful to outstanding. Its always on charge until it hits 100% for me, it is one of my alarm clocks (hard to wake some mornings). But this is the cse every day.

I charged it to 100% 2 days ago, with about 30-40 mins talk time it was dead on its legs(about 10% charge left!) yesterday at 6AM. In 24 hours the batteries charge had all gone.

By about 11AM yesterday it was charged to 100% again. Not been charge since, and been on it for over an hour in talk time. Charge it says is left is 51%!

Any idea what may be causing such a difference? I have a theory that it may be to do with the camera lense opening while its in my pocket. Ayone else had these problems?

I have the same charger problem with my SE k700i. You need to fiddle with it in any imaginable way just to get it charging. And when it starts charging, as soon as you put it down on the table, it stops and you have to fiddle it again. If you still got warranty, use it. With time this problem will only get worse.
I never had any problems with battery life (4 or 5 days with moderate use). The fastest way for me to discharge the battery is surfing the internet (charged status is free-falling in that case ).
I think that greatest demand on battery life makes network searching. If your mobile phone needs to search for the network often that could cause shorter battery life. For example, if you travel through some areas with no signal.
