Default Sky Broadband Help?

Hi Guys,

Has anyone else had this problem or is there something i can do to resolve it. I bought a computer a good few months ago, and started using the wireless box i got of sky, everything was find at first connection was excellent and the speed was top notch. After a week i noticed the connection went down to good, no problems still fine for me. The following week i moved the computer all of 5 yards across the dining room, since then the connection is permanently on very low or low, and sometimes doesn't exist. I tryed to ring Sky guy kept telling me to connect the yellow wire to the back of my computer, after several attempt to tell him it was in the dining room and the phone socket is in the living room, i gave up. One possibability maybe the computer i got it bought for me from work, i put the spec up on here a few months ago and a few people mention the memory was low, would it help the connection if i paid for more memory????

Many Thanks

NR

Mate I have had so much trouble with Sky BB its unbelievable

Next question.................

Help please.......

I had to get rid of the wireless box in the end and go back to the wired connection and that did improve things a bit.

Speed is still not great (supposed to be on 2meg) but rarely lose connection now.

On the plus side today is the day I am ringing Sky and cancelling. I am going to go back to BT.

Sorry not a very positive reply for you

One of the techie peeps will be along soon to give you some decent advice

Well I ordered it for my london flat, and my sis tells me it was a piece of piss to set up and it's all working fine.

We'll see when I arrive there later tonight.

Have you done a speed test to see what you're actually getting Gaz?

Best advice for broadband: If you have cable in your area, get it. ADSL (i.e. owt through your telephone line) is shite in comparison.

i have had sky bb for 2 days now everything seems, although its early days yet. Maybe you should check how far you are from your phone exchange cause that is supposed to make a difference to your speed as well. I was told that i am only 1 1/4 miles from my exchange so i should get good speeds.

i am using a laptop at the mo but will be using a wireless connection on the pc as well when i get around to setting it up. The setup was very easy!!
