Default Sky broadband?

Anybody got Sky Broadband?

Got a letter through the post today offering free broadband if you take up one of the TV packages.

Currently I'm with Telewest and pay £17.99 for 2mb Broadband with no download limits and £11.50 a month for a TV Package.

If I took up Sky's TV Package, I could have pretty much the same TV channels for £15 but get broadband for free (although there is a one-off installation fee of £40.

The broadband offers available are:

Base: Download Speed = 2MB, Monthly usage allowance = 2GB, Price = Free.

Mid: Base: Download Speed = 8MB, Monthly usage allowance = 40GB, Price = £5 a month.

Max: Base: Download Speed = 16MB, Monthly usage allowance = Unlimited, Price = £10 a month.

I don't really download much, so I'm looking at a possible saving of £14.50 per month if I went for the Base option. Only thing is I've never had any problems with Telewest and I know a lot of people get problems with their service provider.

So does anybody have Sky Broadband yet and if so how have you found it?

(I know this should really be in Tech , but thought I might get a few more replies here. Feel free to move it later.)

My dad waited for 6 weeks to get connected, came off AOL and tried to get onto Sky Broadband.

No connection.
Sky said it was BT AOL said theres no problem Sky said it was BT etc.

All in all it ended up with the problem being Sky's end

useless

ps moved to tech.

Unless you live next door to a modern exchange you may be lucky getting more than I Mb through copper phone lines whatever they claim to supply and you pay for. You may wait weeks to get connected and then have to change your email accounts etc. Cable has no problems with high speed BB and NTL have their own BB/TV/Phone offers. The Sky free TV package is very limited and not much more than freeview.

Remembered someone had posted about Sky Broadband, just changed from Orange to Sky Broadband. My phone line can only get up to 2meg speed and I don't download much. I was paying 17.99 a month with orange but will get same package with Sky for just the one off fee of £40. A bit worried now that i'll have endless problems unless they have sorted the problems out and got their asses in gear. Just rang up with my mac code today and should get sky through in next 5-10 days.

Anyone had any problems since this thread was started or have they eventually got the problems sorted?

Maybe the 17.99 a month isn't that bad after all. I wondered what they were talking about when they mentioned new e mail addresses etc. Not being able to use outlook express would explain that.
