Now I aint played a game for ages - Half Life 2 was probably the last and I aint up to speed on what's good. Anyway, I was bored earlier and seen this game popping up all over the place so I thought I would give it a whirl after doing some research on it. 5 years in the making apparently.

Looked at the sys requirements in the readme file and was totally shocked to see that I needed a NASA spec PC to run it at its best. Thought it would be ok on mine, only 2.4g - 1gb mem and 6600GT graph card with all settings on minimum.

The intro looked fantastic, real even, but the gameplay was unplayable. I was getting 20fps at best (rare) and about 2fps at worst (common in action scenes). If I had the funds this would make me go and buy a super dooper PC just to see it in all its glory.

Call me cynical, but do game developers get backhanders from the PC hardware companies??

No idea, but my computer is only a couple of years old and i only have 248MB Ram with 2.8GHz processor. No way would i be able to play some of the more basic games out there let alone that monster.

Fair enough - they want to make the game as good as possible and totally interactive, but there must be a threshold that will result in minimal salesas users wouldn't even attempt to load up their games.

So in answer, that's a definate maybe from me.
