Default Quick Sky Question

Hi All,

I've got sky plus and multiroom, and today I've got a sky guy coming round to relocate my multiroom box.
One problem is that he will have to run a phoneline around a few doors etc to the multiroom box.
I know in terms and conditions it says that you have to have a phoneline connected to both boxes (I know you can get fined if you don't) - but can they tell if I disconnect the phoneline (I never use it) ????
If they can't, the moment the guy leaves I'll unplug it.

yeah, when I got my Sky+ installed we connected it to the phone line to activate the card etc but after that its not been plugged in once.
Tell a lie I did it once to book something but apart from that its never connected.

Even the bloke who came round said you dont need it connected really.

Mate they can tell but to be honest dont seem to bothered about it. When we had our Sky + box installed and had the multiroom box moved, the room we moved it to didnt have a phoneline. Like Carl, the guy said it didnt really matter, they might just send out a letter. We got a letter about 4 months later asking us to plug it in and we did but they never threatened to do anything to us.

I did the same thing Cloud and got away with it for about 6 months.

However I then started getting letters saying that it was in the t&c's that both boxes must be connected to a phoneline. After the third letter (which I ignored) they then began to charge me full price for both boxes (rather than the £10/mth for the extra box) which was about £90 per month.

When I spoke to them they said they call the box every so often to check that it is in the right location as some people are getting the second box and then putting it in a different house as the first box. Sounded like bollox to me but regardless I had to connect it up.

I got a local phone engineer to run a cable through the house for me for about £50 (BT wanted £100+).

Moral of the story I guess is you'll get away with it for so long and then they'll get ya.

We had the same - our kids multiroom had probs with the phone line and we were told by sky that if it wasn't sorted and the box connected to the phone line then they would start to charge us for x2 full packages instead of the multi - room for £10.
