Assuming you are on Windows XP - click start then "help and support" - then click on "computer information".

To "compress current storage" - do you actually mean to defragment, or do you really want to compress your files?

Maybe you're looking for Task Manager / Performance? Hit to go to task manager....

No

Think Memory and storage are being confused a bit here.

Memory is your RAM - it is fast, but when you turn your computer off, anything stored in it is lost.....

Storage is something like your hard drive (which can retain information when the computer is off - but it is slow)

I'm guessing Aliando means storage, since he was also asking about
compressing files.

Open "My Computer".

There should be an icon for your hard drive (probably "C:"). Right click on
this and you get a menu. Choose "Properties" and it should tell you the
amount of used/free space, etc.

Unless you're really living on the edge, 5-6 MB is unlikely to be a problem.

Al

Try looking through your email account. You'll be supprised how much you can save by deleting sent mail or old mail with attachments.

Easiest thing would be buy another hard drive and slave it. then put all your films and music on that.
