Angry PS3 broken

Went to play COD4 and it won't play the disc
Plays normal DVD, but not blu-ray or any games.
Anyone else had this problem?

As it's less than a year old, I've contacted Sony & they will send a refurb. as a replacement.
Guess it's the blu-ray player thats packed in?

No COD4 for over a week

errrr how exactly

I ve had mine for nearly 2 years and works a treat, no probs at all (touch wood)

The games are great, watching movies is great, both dvd and blue ray, listening to music, looking at photos, streaming from laptop, all from one place, if you dont have freeview, you can buy playtv which gets freeview through the ps and you can record tv to the Hard drive.

Not sure how this is a headache more than pleasure and fun entertainment usless you class fun as something different than me

Yes it alot of money, so get an Xbox samething for less money, but less reliable.

Get a PS3 you will not regret it

Are the new (falcon?) motherboards unreliable, or have microsoft (finally) sorted the problems out?

Dont forget, the games are generally higher quality on XBox360 than PS3 too

Although I had to get my PS3 replaced, it's really a great bit of kit.

There was a massive problem with the last update, I think around 26 people posted on the PS3 tech section of the Playstation forums after their PS3 blu ray players stopped working, including mine. It might not be that the PS3's are unreliable but more that the update fcuked up a lot of consoles. I got mine replaced within about 4-5 days, not had any problems since and I'd always take PS3 over X Box 360 any day. See it as an entertainment machine rather than just a games console.

I'm going to backtrack on that comment - it seems in the latest set of comparisons PS3 has closed the gap on XBox360 and the difference between the 2 systems is negligible. http://uk.gamespot.com/features/6201...=topslot;img;2

i like them but dont like the 300 pound price tag, will they reduce the price? No. Sony are already making a huge loss on the PS3 since its launch.

Well don't i feel silly

Mine broke this afternoon, the yellow light of death

No explanation, was just playing COD and the PS turn itself off and wont come back on.

Phoned sony, getting a replacment, same 60 gig console, thank feck i back up data on a regular basis. Also they will send my game back.

My advice to the peeps here would be to back up your data, the reliable PS may decide to kick the bucket.

One question tho, i was told my warranty was over (1 year) they were gonna charge me 182 quid, but he did it for free, I thought that all electrical was guarrenteed for 5 years, is this true?
