Prob ive had from the off Mike. Whenever i take out a usb lead from the port my computer crashes. I've just done a BIOS update but still its happening. Ive got 4 usb ports but no idea what power i am running but i can find out.

XP etc

I can post a system anaylsis but maybe its a bit early for that eh?

Also and maybe related. After my computer recovers from a crash i find my usb modem wont work for a few reboots and also my sound drivers have been know to either uninstal themselves as they aint working. I have to reinstall them.

Komp

Do you just pull it out or do you use the eject device option which should be by your clock its a little grey box with a green arrow.

Also when you say crash, in what way? does it bluescreen or reboot?

I dont use the safely remove the hardwear button Mike as i forgot it was there and anyhow i have 23 bits of hardware attached (printer, modem and joypad) so im wary of removing them. I sometimes fall over them when i have to get up and they fall out.

Crash sorry as in just a frozen screen. Nothing happening, mouse dead etc. Have to turn off at the mains.

Is there owt in the event log Komp?
One thing that you might think of doing is switching your modem to an ethernet connection (should be compatable).

To view your event log.

Go to the control panel then go to Administrative tools. Go to Event Viewer. In there you will see

Application
Security
System

Have a look through post anything with a Warning triangle or an Red error x

Does the crash occur when u unplug from a particular port or from any port?
Or what Milke say, is it just one device u unplug when it crashes.

could also be the psu if ure using a few devices that are drawing power from usb port like joypads etc, try and get a psu over 400 watts to be on the safe side.
