Default Possible Virus or Trojan

This morning when I opened up Outlook to check my mail I noticed in the bottom right hand corner, Outlook was sending a mail.

I had nothing waiting to be sent and nothing appeared in the sent mail folder.

I ran AVG and Spyware which came back with nothing. Hijackthis shows nothing unusual and I'm running Comodo Pro firewall with Comodo BOClean Anti-Malware.

I even ran System Mechanic. The only thing it told me was I have no firewall turned on even though Comodo shows as working at full strength.

I'm pretty much clued up on what to do but find it hard to believe that anything could get through with everything I am using.

I've never noticed Outlook do this before (I don't normally look TBH) and it's bugging the life out of me

Any thoughts or advice whould be appreciated.

First i would run a dedicated Trojan finding software.

I don't use Outlook, but is it possible that it uses that icon in the corner when its looking for an update ?

Next I would run a Network Traffic Analyzer program, then start up Outlook and log anything it may be e-mailing out etc.

Well i guess everyone has their preferred programs.

For me, i have been using The Cleaner from Moosoft.com along side Nod32 anti virus for many years.

Any Network Traffic Analyzer should do, i think Microsoft have a free one for download.

Just a thought - are your "Return receipts" automatic? Maybe it was just one of those......

Now that's something I didn't consider.

I have put a block on Outlook for the moment until I run a few tests that were suggested.

Thanks for all the help. Trilobite & GaF

No Trojan's and nothing unusual on monitoring the network traffic.

So I now believe it to be as GaF suggested.
