The one on Play.com for £24.99 gets good ratings. The girlfriend went into gamestation to enquire about one for me but he said every one they have sold has come back broken so must be a cheap make they are selling.

I wasn't sure whether to keep trying the challenges last night or just have a few races so tried to mix it up a bit. 1 win away from my next upgrade so I'll probably have a spin tonight. Ended up playing Fifa but couldn't find Big Gaz in the lobbies, I think he was hiding. For some reason Lemonjon your profile is not viewable now, wasn't in friends list, when I tried to add you it said already added but it was not visible.

Where did MoFace disappear? He was still shown as playing Burnout but was not in many of our races. Will probably catch a few of you online over the weekend.

I got my cars quickly by doing the hot routes for the cars i already have, u will c a star on the map where the hot route is, then u'll get cars to take down and keep, also do the road rage ones, there easy.

get ur mic from amazon, i have a logitech one, think it was 19.99 but make sure its USB

Lemonjon - forgot to mention, last night I was right behind you, just boosted and was about to ram you and you moved out of the way at the last minute, leaving me head first into an oncoming car. I was cursing you, thinking lucky b@stard.

I had about an hour on it last night and unlocked about 5 more cars, won a few marked man events and road rage events but I enjoy just cruising round looking for billboards, gates, jumps etc.

Also had a cracking game on Fifa08, Arsenal V Chelsea, I went 1-0 up, they scored in 80th min, I hit an 88th min winner to finish 2-1, star man Van Persie. The person I played against had a much higher rating than me so I was well pleased with myself.

Burnout Paradise "islands" to be free

News by Rob Purchese

Criterion boss Alex Ward has promised that all the downloadable "islands" for Burnout Paradise will be free.

These are the content expansions that will be added to Paradise City and form a series, with each location set to offer a different style of gameplay.

Ward unveiled the islands earlier this month, after revealing some fresh car liveries for the game.

You may not have to shell out any money for these paint jobs, but Ward is promising to "make you work" for some of them.

We had a look around the Criterion offices yesterday, disguised as scenery, and were happy to see a full-scale model of a car crashed into a wall.

We also rather liked Burnout Paradise, and it seems many of you do too. But is it the best in the series as Alex Ward claims, Eurogamer reader?

If you shop around at the moment there are some really good offers on PS3 games. Play.com have Virtua Tennis 3 for £17.99 but it's out of stock. Assassins Creed is £24.99 from HMV. Singstar with 2 mics is half price now £24.99 at HMV. NBA 2k8 and NHL 2k8 are both £20 at HMV. Rainbow 6 is £17.99 at Play.com. Motorstorm is between £20-£25 at various including HMV.

Can't go wrong at these prices.

Hello Guys,

I've taken the plunge and got one of these puppies today, bought the 40gb model with Fifa 08 as my first game.

Think i've got the setup ok, I've hdmi'd it to my new 42" plasma, and used the optical digital cable to my amp. Looks and sounds excellent.

Linked it to my wireless Lan, first thing it wanted to do was a system update, 30 mins and 1 reboot later it's good.

I can play divx & xvid films from my USB pen drive, but haven't set up media sharing from my Pc (vista ultimate) do you guys use media player 11 to do this, or a third party app ?

Anything else I should be thinking about here ?

I understand that these things are region free for games, but blue-ray movies are region coded, is this right ?

What's the deal with network accounts, and the store ? Can I download demos and play them ? how big are game demos ?

Lot of questions I know, probably missed important stuff, so if anyone can give me some pointers that'd be most welcome

You need to set up a network account as soon as you can, it's just basically your name and address. You then have the option to put money into your wallet but don't need to straight away. The demos are usually free and they will take up minimal space on your hard drive, after you have played it and decided if you want the game just delete it from your hard drive and download another. There are also film demos on there but you can basically see same trailers on the net for free. Each demo will tell you the size before you download it, they vary depending on if demo has online play etc like the Burnout Paradise Demo.

Can't help you here, my PC is totally separate and I need to get one of those USB flash drive things so I can put music/photos etc on my PS3 if needed. It's hooked up via HDMI to my TV but then I have separate audio cable to my amplifier. I don't really see the point of putting loads of music etc on my PS3, i'm mainly using it for gaming and watching blu ray DVD's. Hopefully Carl or someone can help you out with this.

What sort of games are you into AJ? If you like racing I'd definitely reccommend Burnout Paradise, you can get online then against me, Carl, Moface and Lemonjon. Fifa08 is pretty good and has loads of online features, you should enjoy that. Uncharted - Drakes Fortune is a really good game, sort of like Indiana Jones, some puzzle solving and adventure/discovery, great graphics and a story throughout the game. Call Of Duty 4 will probably take over your life, seems to have gripped the nation and some new maps due soon.

As i've already mentioned you can pick games up from around £17.99 on Play.com (Virtua Tennis 3, Rainbow 6 Vegas and Sega Rally), don't know what shipping costs are like to you though. Tiger Woods is very good and has online play.

HMV are doing deals on Blu Ray DVD'd if you need some to start your collection.

Check out the usernames thread and when you have your online account setup put your username in there and get us all added as friends for some online games.

Played a varity of games on the PC, Half Life 2 was a big fav. I see it's on the PS3. FPS can get a bit samey though, it's gotta be a standout.

Quite like sports sims, Fifa 08 is bloody difficult, but I don't mind that, I'm happy to put the effort in and get value from it.

I had an Xbox a few years ago with an F1 game that was fun.

One of the main drivers behind this was GTA IV, I guess this will be a day of release purchase.

I don't want to store media on my PS3, 40GB hard disk is too small, I want to stream it from my PC on the wireless network, I have about 1TB of movies / TV / music on it, that I want to be able to access via my PS3 and feed out through my home cinema kit

All seems to be covered here, but I've not actually did it, be interested to get feedback from someone who has.

Quote:
PS3 Streaming - Guide

So - you have a new PS3, and bucket loads of content on your PC or network that you wish to access on your PS3. Be it Photos, Music or Video, the PS3 allows you to stream content from a PC.

This guide will help you set up streaming. This guide does not use Windows Media Player 11, as many people encounter problems streaming using WMP. Instead, this guide will enable you to stream using a peice of software called Tversity, which is essentially media streaming software.

Please read this guide carefully and follow each step. I take no responsibility for any problems that may arise by following this guide.

Firstly you need to download Tversity. Click here to download the latest release.
Follow the instructions - leaving absolutely everything at default. Also make sure you install FFDShow, and the Codecs, following the same defaults. These programs will install when you install Tversity.

You then need to go to your Windows Firewall settings, and add the following to the exceptions list:
mediaserver.exe
The file is in your Tversity program files folder.

You may need to open up ports on your wireless router to allow Tversity to work properly - if so you need to refer to your wireless router manual on how to do so. You need to forward 41952 to 41952.

The next step is the load up Tversity. Once you have done so, click settings at the top, and under Media Playback Device, select the Playstation 3.

After you have done this, click the Sharing tap, and click the Add icon to add folders of content to your Tversity library.

Once you have completed all of this and Tversity is running, you can now switch on your PS3. If you already had it on - reboot.
You should now be able to access all the files in your folders on your PS3. All in all you should be up and running in less than five minutes. Tversity will also operate more reliably than WMP 11.

Was not even aware you could stream PC content through your PS3 and mine is set up through wireless too. I'll be interested to see if you get this sorted AJ and if it's easy to do. Seems pretty straightforward from that you posted.
