PC freezing during game - The Punters Lounge

Just got a copy of Caesar 4

Computer keeps freezing but no error log...

I have a pentium 4 with 220Gigs free and a fairly good processor..

Any ideas??

It has left an error message on occasion saying something like...

"Device driver failed"

all I can think of is a Direct X conflict

unless its connecting to the web and you also have a load of other programs connected to the web which might slow the connection down.

right click your 'My Computer Icon' and select properties then device manager, look for 'Display Adapters' click that , that should tell you what graphics card you have.

I've just built my own desktop - my first one ever

And keep having a similar problem

It generally works fine, but I do get frequent crashes (blue screen) while running direct X software (and just occasionally in Windows)..... Am thinking that the problem may be hardware related

Either "bad"memory or a fault on the graphics card (GeForce 8800 GTS) - not really sure how to test it - so interested in the responses Frisky gets

Have the patch already and has done nothing to benefit me...

Ive lowered the screen resolution and turned shadows off and it seems to be working fine for now. Cant figure out why it does not work on default setting though.

Overheating could be the cause. When you put big demands on your graphic card, it could overheat if your coolers can't do the job (especially during Summer). You could remove one side of your PC case and try running the game with bigger resolution.
