Default Outlook problem

Just got round to installing outlook 2003 but can't get it to work. Outlook express works fine and the e-mail account details are the same so I'm wondering if it's a router problem.

Anyone got any suggestions of what I could try?

Have you set Outlook so that it is the first choice program to use for email downloads rather than Express?

Yep, I've set it so it's my default, and I've imported settings from express.

It's a bit of a weird problem, I've tried google but it's not coming up with anything. When I import my settings from express it's as if it downloads all my latest e-mail to express then imports everything over no problem.
However when I click send/receive in Outlook I get a pop-up box with a status bar and it always hangs on 'checking for new mail in subscribed folders'

When I try to check which folders I'm subscribed to I get a message saying the connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server (It's an MS exchange server if that helps).

You're connecting outlook at an Exchange server ?

I build Exchange clusters all the time, dns can be a problem often. Can you reslove the name of the exchange server via DNS ? A simple ping test should tell you.

This is your work / university mail I asusme, as most ISP will use POP3 instead.

errrrm pass. How do I do that? It is university, I can access it via the internet if I go to ex1.bham.ac.uk but I want to get all my e-mail and diary together using outlook. Proving to be a bit of a bugger. Haven't tested if my punterslounge e-mail wowrks yet either.
