NTL/Virgin cable tv box - very odd

This is a strange one, very very strange

Ive got a Samsung 2100C Ntl Cable tv box.

Just lately ive been getting a message on the tv saying that my remote control must have low battery in.

Anyway i never give it much thought, and each time it comes up i just press OK to get rid of the message, til i get some new batteries.

But the penny has just dropped !

It gives the message on the tv when i turn the rooms Lamp On

Its just done it, so i turned it off and on again, and the channels changed several times before stopping on bbc1 (i was on ITV1)

Now thinking about it, I remember i recently changed the bulb to a low energy one, and so i think somehow it must be this


I thought remote signals were Infrared ?

And i haven't had any yet, before you ask
