No Sound on my comp - The Punters Lounge

Recently had my comp gutted out and set back to original settings (due to loads off viruses etc) and I cant get any sound anymore.

My speakers are definitely connected properly but I think my computer isnt recognising they exist. Any ideas? Im not really that great with computers.

I go to volume control as well but it doesnt even load like it thinks I dont have speakers. My speakers are standard small ones that came with the computer nothing special.

Which volume control are you going to? I had similiar problems and when checking volume control it seemed ok. I then realised the damn thing has about 6 different volume controls. The one which was my problem was:-
CONTROL PANEL>SOUND,SPEECH AND AUDIO DEVICES>SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES>VOLUME

This setting was right down at the bottom whereas a different seemed fine. If not there may be something else around there that might stand out.

Goto control panel, then sounds and multimedia, and check the hardware and see if it has your speakers listed and then select them, should hopefully sort it out for you. If not post back and we will see, but it sounds like the pc hasn't recognised them, do you remember what you did when you first bought the pc??

Getting there tul, hows england treating ya, I am still seething about not being able to come up there, the builder sais he was gonna be at my house on Fri morn, but didn't turn up, didn't ring me and just turned up Sat morn. So sorry, but hope you didn't get too messy, but messy enough.
