can someone explain what exactly is the difference between Normal Dvds and Blu-Ray and Hd Dvd's.
And before someone says it, yes i know hd dvds will soon be extinct like betamax.

no wonder hd dvds are being muscled out, look at the big names supporting blu ray.

The new formats support High Definition TV. Until you actually experience the difference it's hard to explain. I got a 50" plasma HDTV last year along with a Sky HD box and love it. Eventually all tv will be HD.

I never understood the issue over the format war with blu-ray/HD-DVD. There was already a player on the market that could do both, it was only a matter of time before a multi format player came down in price enough for format not to matter.

All to do with money and control.

the film studios don't want to release two versions of discs, it adds cost.

Multi format players add complexity and cost, needed to be a winner.
